The summer is almost here and this means only one thing: it’s holiday time! has rounded up the top five European holiday destinations for a perfect outdoor stay.

Croatia: Camping Village Poljana is the ideal place to escape and spend a completely relaxing and stress-free holiday away from the UK. It is located on the island of Lošinj in unspoilt natural surroundings on the Adriatic coast. Guests can explore the beauty of the archipelago and admire wonderful views of the island by hiking, mountain biking or taking a sailing trip. France: Camping Les Ecureuils is located in La Bernerie en Retz in south Brittany right on the Atlantic coast. The site is only 350 metres away from the beach and 400 metres from the village. The entertainment team organises fun activities to keep the children occupied, while for grown ups there’s Zumba, power yoga, aquagym and bootcamp. Spain: Camping La Garrofa is on a sheltered corner of pure paradise, on the beach of La Garrofa and just four kilometres from Almería. The campsite offers spacious pitches supplied with optional electric hook-up. On site, visitors will find a cosy bar and restaurant with daily menus and delicious tapas. The city of Almería on the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula is worth visiting as it is known as the ‘sunniest Spanish city’ with 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. Italy: Campeggio Mare Blu is located in a pretty setting only a few steps from a white sandy beach. Portugal: Camping Valverde is located close to a peaceful nature reserve, about three kilometres from Praia da Luz and seven kilometres from Lagos. The site has large marked out pitches, most of them under the shade of trees. There is a swimming pool for adults and children, a multisport field, tennis courts, free wifi in common areas and a playground. The campsite also has six shower blocks, a mini market, a self-service and takeaway restaurant, a snack bar and convenience store. Pitches here start from £18.27 per night for two people.
