  • Peaceful family park at the centre of four valleys
  • Within easy reach of historic El Pont de Suert
  • A short drive to watersports activities, ski resort and a UNESCO site
For a friendly stay among lush greenery and cracking mountain views, Camping Alta Ribagorça is a peaceful family place in the village of Les Bordes, between Vilaller and El Pont de Suert. As you might expect from a Pyrenean paradise such as this, the site is the departure point for spectacular mountain walks, with trails taking amblers past waterfalls and lush lakes; there’s lots of outdoorsy stuff to do in the local area too, like climbing, skiing, watersports and sightseeing around the UNESCO-listed Vall de Boí. This is a smashingly scenic hillside site, and a stay here won’t leave you wanting for anything (save a longer stay): there's a small shop for necessities, a pool to cool off in and two restaurants, one with a cosy bar (the homemade local fare here is consistently lauded as top notch). A good restaurant is opposite the entrance should one fancy a change, and the shops of Pont de Suert are close by for the procurement of snacky supplies and picnic hamper bits. The bathroom facilities are regularly hailed as well maintained, and should one wish to make an extra special effort with one’s barnet before stepping out, a hairdryer is to hand in the ladies’ washrooms.

Local attractions

Take a trip to El Pont de Suert, a few minutes’ drive south, for townside ambles among the New Church of L’Assumpció, the Main and Merchants’ squares, and Palau Abacial (Abbot’s Palace). Squeeze in a visit too to the Baroque-style Església Vella to goggle at its collection of paintings, gold, silver, and Baroque-style altarpieces. Elsewhere for those of a watersports persuasion, the Escales Reservoir and the Noguera Ribagorçana river provide lots of activities on the water – just ask site owners Ana and David on site for more info on the local area’s active options. If you’re fond of wandering, a topping option is an amble along the Water Route, a 26-kilometre trail that runs along different sections of pathways and cattle tracks alongside or near the main waterways of the area. The route links the tail of the Escales Reservoir, the Santa María de Lavaix monastery in Pont de Suert, and the Caldes de Boí spa in the Vall de Boí. Speaking of which, the town is home to the highest ski resort in the Pyrenees at Boí-Taüll, with pistes that reach as high as 2,751 metres above sea level down to 2,020 metres at their lowest, with north-facing slopes to guarantee splendid snow.
