What customers say
A peaceful, wild camp with vast woodland sites and lovely nature. Staff are a gem, facilities are spotless, and the bar/pizza oven is a bonus. A few mention busy loos at peak times and occasional tricky access or untidy spots.

Needs upgrading. Could be nice at a time when not so busy.
Field non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch
Liked The location was good.
Disliked Three fields of campers with one compost toilet that smelt disgusting, overflowing and unusable.
Exit (with new gate) from field to driveway , to main showers and toilets, was a rocky path, maybe once was steps(okay if you are an ibex). Main toilets (4) and showers (4) totally inadequate for the large numbers of campers. The only wash basin right next to 2 washing up sinks. So wash basin, wash up facilities, toilets, showers all in a small, overcrowded and dingy room. Bit like a cave. The distance uphill from camp site to the dingy loos is a long way.

Liked Really peaceful setting, plenty of space, good facilities.
The communal space for eating and playing games under cover is great.
The walk down to the estuary through the woods is lovely - plenty to explore (for grown-ups and children alike).

Liked Absolutely loved the place! It was quiet with the most beautiful views, especially in the morning when the sun shone over the mountains.
Facilities were on point and the area for food and drink was equally as impressive with the smell of smoke coming from the log burning pizza oven and light music ambience you can even chill in a hammock!
A wellness area with a sauna, cold plunge and therapy teepee JUST GO and see for yourself I’m not doing it enough justice…. 😍😍😍😍😍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Field non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch
Liked The setting for Cefn Coed is beautiful, a wooded valley with easy access to the stunning Welsh landscape on your doorstep. Great for star gazing and easy access to nature and brilliant days out on your door step.
Bar area and wood fired pizzas are a nice touch, I believe these are operated by an independent company. The food and drinks were a nice option to have on site for those wanting a bit of indulgence.
Disliked My reception from the member of staff was lukewarm at best, taking around 5 minutes for him to find my booking, which did not instilling me with confidence about the stay ahead.
When I booked the site in early May it described itself as a small camp site with a limited number of pitches for tents and camper vans approximately 50 pitches in total. Upon arrival I discovered that there were easily in excess of 50 tents in the meadow area alone. Adding in the woodland pitches and camper vans the number of pitches on site must have been nearly double the maximum pitches I was lead to expect. This information has now been removed from Cfen Coed's website and PitchUp.
There was no pitch allocation system. The Meadow, a walled field subdivided by wire fencing meant that everybody was pitched back to back against the fencing. There was not much space between the tents which was an issue at night time with sound transmission. Large groups were welcomed which meant that smaller parties suffered due to proximity.
The high number of pitches on site meant that the washroom facilities on site were very challenged. There were only 4 unisex flush toilets on site for all visitors to share. These were located at the top a steep hill if you are based in the meadow. Not a problem if you enjoy long queues in the morning and evening. Furthermore the toilets were a long way to travel in the dark on steep, uneven and at times rocky terrain, approximately a 5 minute walk from the meadow pitches. I would not want to make this journey in windy wet weather. The toilets cubicles themselves were very tight and cramped with poor illumination, the lights appeared to be on a sensor which would occasionally plug you into the gloom unless you thrashed around continually. There were times when they ran out of toilet paper and the electric hand driers did not all work. There were 2 sinks allocated for dish washing and a further 2 hand basins and mirrors with limited space to place or use toiletries. The dish wash station and hand basins side by side was sub optimal.
There was 1 poorly maintained composting toilet in the meadow, it was often found in an unsanitary state with a broken lighting during my stay. Best avoided.
The 4 showers were extremely small and cramped with the queue for the toilet immediately outside the door during peak time. On the Sunday morning the shower area was flooded due to issues with the drains.
The site also advertised itself as having a no music policy. Several times there were people in contravention of this playing music and holding loud drunken conversations until the small hours of the morning. No evidence of the owner's making the rounds or enforcing their policies.
The campsite is a member of the Greener Camping Club. Cfen Coed are yet to issue my membership to this organisation which is their responsibility. I have followed up with the Greener Camping Club but to little effect.
Departure time is 10 am which is exceptionally early and mean in my opinion for a campsite departure time. There is of course the opportunity to purchase a late check out time for more money...
We went to try and address these issues with the owners before departure on the Sunday morning, but regrettably and perhaps to be expected they could not be found anywhere...
They appear to be installing more facilities but these were not up and running for our visit in the middle of August. Build them first before over selling your site would be my suggestion.
When looking the owners photos imagine a queue of people every where in high summer and an awful lot more tents too.
