Liked We don’t usually book big family sites like this but as we were going in the week we thought we’d risk it and it certainly paid off!! There was plenty of room and quiet.
We stayed Tuesday- Sunday.
The site was very tidy and clean.
Toilets and showers very clean and showers hot and powerful.
Swimming pool was lovely, pick your times to go as it can get busy. Adults only swimming first hour and last hour of the day which is amazing. Sauna and steam room are a good size.
Lockers in changing room are lockable without coins which is also a bonus.
The gym is well equipped with a good variety of machines and weights.
Restaurant is lovely and spacious but doesn’t allow dogs. You’re welcome to sit outside on the terrace with dogs. There are also lovely views from here.
If you want somewhere indoors to sit with your pet then you will need to visit The Wildboar Cafe which is opposite, this is lovely and has the same menu as the main restaurant but it closes at 6pm so you cannot stay there for the evening.
The dog wash area has warm water which my cold muddy dogs appreciated - so this is a lovely touch.
The site is right on the paths leading further into the forest - it does have fencing around preventing wild boar from entering.
The wifi was welcome to pass an hour in the evenings.
All the staff we spoke to or dealt with were really friendly and welcoming.
The site is also a short stroll to Parkend village where there is a little train station and a village shop and cafe.
Mallards pike is also a very short drive and this is beautiful.
Disliked Probably one of the best sites we’ve ever stayed and we’re happy to pay to have the extra leisure facilites as we haven’t this opportunity before.
The only thing I would like to change is somewhere indoors to sit with the dogs. Once the cafe closes at 6pm then the only place to go (if you have dogs) is out on the terrace, and in the winter it can be very cold. We like being sociable but we were often outside on our own with our pints as we had the dogs with us 🤣
