Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Great location. Plenty of space. The bar/pub has a good choice of food and drink and the kids loved the entertainment
The staff are excellent, really friendly. We asked at the guest services if we could plug our electric cooler and power bank in a few times and it was never a problem. All the guests were really respectful and kept the noise to a minimum past 10pm. The staff came round every day to check everything was ok and if there were any problems to report.
We booked for another week while we were there, I'd definitely recommend for the price and we would happily return.
Disliked The showers and toilets are good but the floor can get really dirty at times with grass and water, which was slightly inconvenient as you couldn't really put your feet on the floor after a shower, or if you're wearing crocs/flip flops the water would reach your feet. It would be better if a floor squeegee could be provided so guests can give the floor a quick clean after themselves. There were two cubicles with only showers, it would be ideal if these could also have a little bin and a mirror on the back of the door.
But this wouldn't stop us returning.

Liked Very spacious and the facilities were excellent and really well maintained. We have two young children and they had plenty of room to play. The discount you receive on the Castle Howard tickets is very generous and well worth a trip! Would definitely come back.
Disliked There was a lot of noise from the birds, which I did read on other reviews before booking. We still managed to sleep despite the noise, but feel like it is something that other campers need to be aware of.
Unfortunately there was only really pike in the lake, so if you're looking to go fishing I would take the gear to pike fishing.

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Great little campsite. Facilities were great and the service was excellent. I loved that Cayton Bay was a short walk away and a dog friendly pub with an outdoor play was also a short walk. Great driving distance for Filey and Scarborough.
Disliked The only disappointing part was that the road nearby could be noisy at night, but not anything the owners can do about that!
