Motorhomes and campervans

Camper van at Hendra Holiday Park, NewquayWhile there are loads of great sites about where you can arrive with nothing but your spare undies and hire a top of the range lodge, yurt or whatever else takes your fancy, nothing really beats having your own wheels.

Having a motorhome or campervan means you don’t even have to hook the caravan to the car – just jump into the driver’s seat, turn the key in the ignition and off you go. Here’s our guide to using to get the best motorhome and campervan holidays:

We have hundreds of parks with pitches for motorhomes and campers: of these, you can filter your search further for according to what you want – seasonal pitcheshardstandingsfully serviced, pitches with water or drainage hook-up points for tourers, and pitches with motorhome service points or tourer storage facilities. (If you’re storing your vehicle throughout winter, see our winter caravan storage page for top tips.)

You can filter your search further to find motorhome and campervan sites in national parks, near birdwatching spots, beaches, where campfires are allowed, by activities on site, off site, nature and scenery sites, adults only, family friendlyopen all year, motorcycle friendly...and loads more including user review, price and tourist board rating. Not sure where to start? Our main motorhomes page has top-rated motorhome and campervan parks, latest deals and offers and links to popular counties and towns for motorhome camping.

As with all things camping, your budget can be as big or small as you want when taking to the road on your own wheels. Many people have fond memories of their first starter van, usually a tiny camper with one set of cutlery and a crack in the back window. But from these humble and inexpensive beginnings come big shiny beasts of motorhomes, which are aimed for down the line of your camping career.

We salivated with 80,000 others at the International Caravan and Motorhome Show in Birmingham in 2009 and have form in this type of envy ever since, mistily eyeing up Spaceships and Airstreams and trying to get inside the £250,000 American RV on display.

But even if your budget doesn’t quite stretch to that, or the double-decker bus you’re going to convert into a motorhome after that elusive lottery win, you can still take your motorhome or campervan on the road with our sites and tips: if you're still new to the wonders of motorhoming, have a look at our guide to buying your first motorhome to get you started.
