- Trainspotting RV park a 10-minute walk from Helper’s Amtrak stop
- ATV riding, country club golfing, hiking, kayaking and fishing nearby
- State-of-the-art wifi, cable TV, splash pad and dog-walking area
Trainspotting type? Chug on over to Castle Gate RV Park for stays a 10-minute walk from the centre of Helper, one of the best areas in the country for catching railroad activity. About 10 trains pass the park daily along Amtrak’s California Zephyr line, rolling by slowly so you can get a good glimpse of each one.
Set on the eastern side of the Wasatch Mountains, this spot's surrounds are also a big draw. If you’re on a road trip in Utah, it’s a prime place to settle in for a night or so, being halfway between Salt Lake City and Moab (both two hours’ drive).
Not that you’ll need to head this far for nature: trails along the Price River are a few steps away and there are plenty of areas for ATV riding, hiking, kayaking and fishing within a short drive.
Also close by is Helper’s Main Street, a couple of blocks away with the amenities you need, whether restaurants, coffee shops, a grocery store and a post office or a bowling alley, museum, art galleries, gift shops and a bar with a pool table.
Grab a beer or two from the town’s liquor store and head back to the park for a chillout session watching the trains on your spacious site (with excellent wheelchair access for guests with disabilities). All have full hook-ups for watching cable TV, plus there’s state-of-the-art wifi, a dog-walking area and a playground.
