Mendocino Magic

Mendocino Magic is about 10 minutes' drive from Admiral Standley State Recreation Area, a large hiking area with 45 acres of native Californian redwoods deep in Mendocino County. For further exploration, you might like to head a little further afield to see the flora and fauna at the Angelo Coast Range Reserve, where Douglas firs, Olympic salamanders, black bears and flying squirrels can all be seen. The nearest beaches are in DeHaven (roughly 40 minutes away by road), home to spacious stretches of sand and lots of opportunities to go out surfing or sailing. Driving up and down the scenic Shoreline Highway is an excellent way to spend the day if you want to see more of the ocean, with highlights including the historic town of Fort Bragg (approximately an hour and 10 minutes). For another impressive drive, head north to Humboldt Redwoods State Park (an hour and 20 minutes), home to the far-famed Avenue of Giants and some of the tallest and oldest redwoods in the state.
