A family-owned site operating since 1954, Anvil Campground is proudly celebrating more than seven decades and four generations of excellence 10 minutes’ drive from the center of historic Williamsburg, Virginia.
Amenities include a heated pool (seasonal), a free games room and a playground with ziplines and hammocks. There’s also an on-site store selling local produce and essentials (plus a supermarket within 10 minutes’ drive), and free weekend events all year, profits from which go to US-based charities.
This is the only Williamsburg campground with a public transportation bus stop; it’s within easy walking distance to shopping and offers quick access to major Williamsburg attractions like Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg and Water Country USA.
As well as those big hitters, family-friendly fun nearby includes Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and Go Ape! Zipline Adventure Park (both within 15 minutes’ drive). Nature lovers can fish or hike at Waller Mill Park (five minutes), or stroll local farmers’ markets at Williamsburg’s Merchants Court (10 minutes). Breweries, distilleries, outlet shopping and fine dining are all within 20 minutes’ drive.
