Taking a nostalgic trip on Route 66? If you find yourselves in need of an RV stopover in Oklahoma, Deep Creek Ranch is handily located about 90 miles west of Oklahoma City, between Elk City (15 minutes’ drive) and Sayre (10 minutes).
With just a few pull-through grass sites, the campground has several family-friendly features, including a game area with horseshoes and tetherball for the youngest guests, and a fire ring where families can gather in the evening.
Convenient amenities include air-conditioned shower rooms, a coffee corner in reception and a coin-operated washer and dryer in the laundry room.
Canine companions are welcome to accompany you on holiday; there’s a secure dog park for exercise and plenty of walks around the ranch (which you can also explore on horseback), but they must be kept under tight control as there are cows grazing behind the RV sites.
You can pick up any essentials you need in either Elk City or Sayre; both towns have restaurants and bars as well.
