It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly RV park near the Pennsylvania shores of Lake Erie
- 700 feet from I-90 and seven miles from the Presque Isle beaches
- Pool, playground, games room, outdoor games and grocery shop
A mere seven miles… that's all it is from Presque Isle Passage to the sandy beaches of Presque Isle, set along the Pennsylvania shoreline on long lengths of sands for swimming, sunbathing and watery sports. The site itself is easily accessed too, as it's only 700 metres to it from the I-90.
And for added watery days, within the same distance is vast Lake Erie, one of America's five Great Lakes. It's a top spot for fishing, kayaking, kitesurfing and swimming – as well as diving for shipwrecks: anywhere between 1,400 and 8,000 vessels are thought to lie deep on the lake bed. (Vineyards are dotted around the shore too, for thorough investigation of Lake Erie Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay.)
Pitch up at Presque Isle Passage for a comfy base for lake and beach, on a family- and group-friendly RV park with a good range of facilities. As most of the pitches are pull-thru, the site can accommodate any size of RV with toured vehicle (even 65 feet or longer) on its spacious pitches, each of which come with TV, wifi and their own picnic table and firepit.
Leisure facilities include a heated pool, a games room, a playground and outdoor games. There's also a small grocery shop for guests' convenience; campfires and barbecues are both allowed, and gas cylinders are available to buy.

Local attractions
To the beaches and then to the lake: both have enough to do to keep you around this part of Pennsylvania for quite some time… and then there are state parks, nature reserves, outdoor activities and outdoor events and facilities to tap into too.
As there 11 or so miles of Presque Isle beaches, there's a good choice of facilities and options along the sands, from family spots to quieter zones, kite flying to beachside biking, all among wooded picnic areas, beach volleyball courts and safe family-friendly waters.
Around spectacular Lake Erie, just to the site's north, popular picks include pottering around the lakeside towns by foot, car or bike; visiting the several lighthouses; watersports such as kitesurfing and kayaking; pleasure cruises and boating, or getting out to the islands on the west of the lake: Kelley's, Pelee and South Bass.
More outdoorsy days are at the Asbury Woods Nature Center, a good spot for fishing, mountain biking and hiking as well as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, and at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center in the Presque Isle State Park, where visitors can find out more about the wildlife of the area and see what's happening on Lake Erie from the observation tower.
You could also take a trip to Erie Zoo or to the (free) Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm, where herds of buffalo roam over 170 acres; for more thrillseeking times, zip along to the amusements and water fun of Erie's Waldameer Park.
