General

  • Peaceful site set across 65 acres of woodland in the Pocono mountains
  • Within easy reach of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
  • Outdoor pool, stocked fishing pond, games room and hiking trails

Run along to the Poconos region of Pennsylvania for a sweet stay among woodland and mountains, hiking and canoeing, fishing and swimming... from a peaceful and friendly resort so scenic you might reckon you're staying in a national park.

Set on 65 acres of woodland among the Pocono mountains, Cranberry Run Campground is a family campground 10 minutes' drive from the Monroe County town of East Stroudsburg, 20 minutes' drive from the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area for hiking, canoeing, kayaking and rafting. Shops, a casino and – for bargain hunters – an indoor flea market are all within 15 minutes' drive.

Take a look at the pics to see just how hugely scenic this resort is, with loads of space to roam, a pond to fish (or daydream) at, and greenery all around. There's an outdoor pool for idle days at base, along with a playground to occupy non-idle kids, and a games room with arcades, air hockey, a pool table and a fireplace.

Cranberry Run also has a shop selling camping supplies. Barbecues and campfires are allowed: guests can buy firewood from the team and use the on-site propane filling station.

Please note

We really enjoyed our stay at the campground. The place is well groomed. We chose the primitive campsite. Our site was clean and ample. It was what we hoped. The bathroom facilities were clean as well. The staff was consistently helpful and kept just enough presence to keep us feeling safe and secure. We can see the park has all different styles of camping you could try, the little cottages were tempting. We will camp here again. Thanks for the enjoyable weekend.

The owners were super nice and made us feel welcome. The location and price were great for our purposes and we had a wonderful time exploring the Poconos. Seems like a very family friendly place and we will definitely return in the future.

    Thanks!

The firewood we purchased was pretty wet and wouldn't burn without producing mass amounts of smoke. Not a huge deal though, we just bought some kiln dried stuff at a supermarket and got it going.

From the manager...

Thanks for taking the time to leave this review! We'd love to have you back again. Re. the wood: the wet weather has been brutal for the wood - it just soaks in all the moisture in the air. It was definitley a challenge! Hopefully all that is over now :)

Game room and swimming pool was a nice upgrade from our usual camping sites. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, and the sundries offered in the office were surprisingly cheap!

    Disliked:

We had asked for a shady and private campsite, and although the site was away from people, it was directly on a dirt road and we could see the intersection of the main camp road about 50 yards off. We were also able to see (and hear) the street through the woods. Also, the site was not shady between 10 am and 4 pm. That said, we'll probably be back, just at a different site!

From the manager...

Thanks for the feedback - we can definitely get you a site that's more suited to your needs next time. Hope to see you again!

From the manager...

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! I'm sorry to hear your neighbors were loud. Please don't ever hesitate to call down to the office if that happens again - we can't always hear what's going on and they usually quiet down when they hear us coming on the 4 wheeler to make rounds. Someone is up super late to take care of any issues, though, so do let us know if it happens again! Thanks for staying!

Local attractions

Get down to Mount Airy Casino Resort (15 minutes' drive) to try your luck on the tables or catch one of its regular evening shows; if you're into shopping for unusual souvenirs, spend a weekend day antiquing around the indoor flea market at Wind Gap, also 15 minutes' away.

Outdoor adventurers have loads to pick from over at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, including hiking, canoeing/kayaking, rafting, fishing, hunting and photography, as well as ice climbing, skiing and snowshoeing during the colder months.

The longest hiking-only footpath in the world, the Appalachian Trail, can be picked up 20 minutes' drive away at Bangor, just past the Delaware Water Gap. Take the three and a half-mile part of the trail from Wind Gap to Fox Gap, or prepare your most determined face to tackle the 16 miles from the Wind Gap to the Delaware Water Gap, described by one weary hiker as 'the most brutal' part of the path.

More hiking trails are around Bushkill Falls (25 minutes), also home to a museum on the history of the Delaware Native American.
