  • Wild campground in the middle of Ohio’s Hocking Hills State Park
  • NevilleBillie Adventure Park five minutes’ drive; Ash Cave 15 minutes
  • Off-grid sites with a picnic table, fire ring and wooden tent platform
Getting back to nature is pretty easy when you stay at Black Oak Campsites, 10 minutes’ drive from the small Ohio town of Logan, as it’s right in the middle of Hocking Hills State Park and the tent sites are on the forest floor. The four-acre rural campground has just a few sites scattered among the trees. As this is ‘almost’ wild camping, they are all firmly off-grid so bring torches (and spare batteries) so you can move around safely after dark. The ‘almost’ element comes in as each site is prepared, cleared and semi-secluded with a picnic table, fire ring and wooden tent platform, and is just a few minutes’ uphill walk from the parking area and simple toilet facilities. Hocking Hills hiking and cycling trails are accessible from the sites, and you can be at well-known landmarks like Ash Cave and Lake Logan in around 15 minutes by car.
