Local attractions
Camping Le Bivouac's local village of Châtel-Saint-Denis and the nearby hamlet of Prayoud are on the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites and are handsomely well worth a scenic wander around, to see such sights as the Saint-Denis Church, listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
Montreux, right on Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps, is also well worth a wander for its many heritage sites like Crêtes and Châtelard castles, the Marché couvert, the Audiorama and the Territet – used in its previous Grand-Hôtel life as the recording studio for Deep Purple's album Machine Head.
Also get hither to Gruyères, the medieval town famed for its cheese, the towns of Bern, Fribourg, Lausanne and Geneva, long leisurely walks around Lake Geneva, and the top of Moléson mountain, accessible by splendidly scenic cable car.
