Might you think of mountains with the moniker of this park? And mountain hiking, biking, climbing and nature spotting, all amid magnif mountain views? All sorted at the peaceful site of Sierra Calderona, from which you can easily access fab Valencia too.
Your peaky adventures will be among the mountain range of the same name, the Calderona heights running for 49 kilometres in the orange tree-laden land surrounding the site – and at the handsome Sierra Calderona Natural Park, well known for its hiking as well as its cycling marked trails. Getting urban, Valencia is about 40 minutes' drive from here.
Sierra Calderona is on the outskirts of the village of Estivella, in a wildlife haven and valley with mountain views. It's a roomy, pretty eco-friendly place, with a good range of facilities including a big outdoor pool with spacious solarium, both set against the green Valencian Community countryside; a play area, and a bar and restaurant for meals in or to take away.
There's a small site shop for supplies; for more, Estivella is about five minutes' drive away.

Local attractions
The site is in a wildlife haven, with easy access to hiking and cycling trails in the nearby Sierra Calderona Nature Park, and close to a designated bird protection area.
One of the most popular marked trails in the region, the G 10, passes through Estivella on its route from Puçol through the Sierra Calderona range. Hikers should also tackle the PR-V trail from Olocau to Estivella as well as the SL-V23 running from Beselga to Font de Barraix; if you're a two-wheeler, the surrounding valley and mountains are also popular with mountain bikers.
The nearest beaches are within easy driving distance: among the most popular are Las de Sagunto, 20 minutes away, and L'Almardá, Malvarrosa and Canet D´en Berenguer, all within 25 minutes. A marina and a nudist beach are at Canet too.
