General

  • Quiet and calm park in Altea on Spain’s Costa Blanca
  • Theme parks, waterparks and aquarium 11km away in Benidorm
  • Small outdoor kids’ pool and 200 metres from a peaceful pebbly beach

A quiet, calm and accommodating resort on Spain’s Costa Blanca, Camping Santa Clara is in a rural locale, close to the village of Altea and 11 kilometres from Benidorm.

Founded by the Rojas family in 1961, the park prides itself on stellar customer service, in a peaceful setting a short stroll via a wild local footpath to a quiet pebbly beach. There’s no bar or evening entertainment here either: you can relax instead to the sound of cicadas while the kids have their splash and swim time at the small above-ground pool.

Guests are welcome to use the communal microwave when they want a quick fodder fix, the coffee machine for morning refreshment, and a soft-drink vending machine is on hand too for cold drinks throughout the day.

Should you require any small items during your stay, head to reception for a stock of basic provisions; for anything outside of this, Altea’s shops, bars and restaurants are under 10 minutes' walk away behind the town’s marina and yacht club. Also handily, reception is where you can go to have a natter with the site’s friendly staff about their hot tips on places to go around the locale.

The site’s amenities include separate ladies’ and gents’ sanitary facilities, often lauded by previous guests as being properly spotless.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Dogs are not allowed in the on-site accommodations.

Your dog must be tattooed and microchipped.

The site only allows dogs up to 20kg.

Worst site ever 06/30/2018

Worst camp site ever. Did not match up to your description. The entrance was not big enough for our caravan to get in so damage was done to our van. No swimming pool as stated in your advert. Site off a busy road and to go any where you could not walk had to drive. Access to beach was down a steep dirt track not very good when you are in your 70,s. We booked in for 2 weeks but say yes only 4 nights but one of those nights we did not sleep on the site. We paid in full up front but were told we were not entitled to a refund. Th e site was empty. Most of our 4 night stay we were the only ones there.
    Absolutely disgusting.

Location: From the west along the N332 just before Altea keep your eyes open on the right hand side on a downward slope, the sign can be missed. Satnav was not good locating the exact spot. You are 75mts from the sea front down a small track. Altea and Albir are both very close within easy walking distance. Plenty of bars and restaurants are available on a long Altea seafront promenade.
Reception: We pre booked by phone, on arrival the receptionist was helpful and efficient. Although we were allocated a pitch she gave us a choice on the site.
Facilities: Two small toilet/shower rooms are near the reception area. A shower/toilet/washroom block with three cubicles of each facility within, is a short walk from reception. At the end of this block is a dish washing area and a small laundry facility. Plenty of hot water and immediate. Toilet paper provided but take your towels for drying hands as there were no paper towels/hand drying machines. A communal sitting area is available overlooking the Med, it has charm and is relaxing. WIFI was very good. There is a microwave and coffee machine. Used books available with bread delivered daily for purchase.
Security; Main gates are locked at night which made us feel very secure.
Dog friendly although no areas immediate to the site to allow dogs off lead.
Summary: We have a VW campervan and our pitch with a awning was perfect. It is a lovely family run, quaint, rustic camp site, which we would highly recommend.

    Disliked:

The thing that would enhance the toilet facilities would be hand dryers or paper towels.

La tranquilidad, las vistas desde nuestra parcela, el disponer de cuarto de baño completo prácticamente individual. La zona de relax entre parras y árboles, la cercanía a la playa y a la población de Altea. La atención de los dueños del camping. En fín, todo.

Local attractions

The site’s local town of Altea has over six kilometres of coastline alternating between cliffs, small coves and long stretches of flat beach. The town also has a fishing port and a marina and yacht club, with a promenade nearby for strolls from the port almost right out to Cap Negret three kilometres away.

Around Altea’s marina lie lots of shops, little eateries, bars and restaurants, many of which provide sunny terraces on which to sit and sip drinks on. The town’s market is also a popular spot for bargain hunters, and the Old Town rewards those who fancy climbing up to it with spectacular sea views.

For active days out, you can get stuck into a good range of watery sports from various spots nearby, from diving excursions to sailing courses, paddleboarding and kayaking, plus paddle pilates and yoga sessions; alternatively, you can go solo and rent a boat to explore the surrounding Costa Blanca coastline from the high seas.

If you’re fond of bathing sans swimming togs, then Solsida nudist beach – the only of its kind in the area – lies nine kilometres north along the coast. Another postcardworthy spot is Albir’s lighthouse and museum, less than five kilometres away among the Sierra Helada Natural Park, where there’s also a six-kilometre coastal walk to tramp.
