How green is this valley? By a river, in the Catalan Pyrenees and next to an ancient way that connects 33 old towns of the Val d'Aran? Spectacularly scenic stays are yours at Verneda Camping Mountain Resort, along with site activities like pony rides and barbecue evenings, Pyrenees running and cycling tours… all in a waterside setting with loads of space. Verneda is edged on one side by the banks of the Garonne river and on the other by the Camin Reiau, the ancient 150-kilometre path at an altitude of 12,000 metres. Pony rides into the surrounding mountains are held weekly in high season for kids, part of a July and August entertainment programme that includes concerts, barbecues and activities for all ages. Guests can also book running and cycling tours at reception, or join in with a summer excursion: check the info board outside reception to see what's on during your stay. You can rent bikes if you want to go off exploring under your own steam, or stick around the grounds to sunbathe, splash around the heated outdoor pool, or get active at the football pitch, indoor and outdoor ping pong tables or along the jogging and mountain bike trail. The two roomy playgrounds are well kitted out for kids. To take things down a notch (well, it does get rather warm under the Spanish sun), make for the games room or communal room with TV, or have local cuisine in the bar-restaurant. A well-stocked supermarket is also on site if you'd rather cook up dinner at the communal barbecues.

Liked Amazing site with great facilities. We were given a friendly welcome. As it was September it was quite quiet but would imagine it would be packed in full summer.
Loads of walks and bike trails staight from the site. We were also able to take the dog to the pool area. Not sure if you can do it in high season but a big win for us.

Disliked Bit of road noise but mostly stopped at night.

Liked El lugar es maravilloso. Vamos desde hace 5 años y siempre nos encanta.
Los baños son muy cómodos, sobretodo con niños.

Disliked Me gustaría que la tienda abriese en temporada alta un poco más de las 20h. A veces es esa hora a la que llegas de la ruta y si le sumas que el restaurante va con reserva previa(deberían de informar en el check in de esto) y es complicado conseguir lugar te quedas sin cenar con los niños y tienes que salir en coche

The landscapes of the Val d'Aran and the nearby Aigüestortes and Lake Sant Maurici National Park are popular outdoor spaces, whether you want to have a hair-raising time with the likes of canyoning and rafting, or seek a more serene few hours playing golf, birdwatching or sinking into a thermal bath. Verneda is bordered by one of the 10 sections of the 150-kilometre Camin Reiau, the old trail that links the 33 villages of the Arun Valley, including the site's local settlement of Arròs. A little to the east is Vila, higher up in the mountains with spectacular views of the summits of the Pico de la Entecada; from there, hike a bit further to Aubert. Also highly recommended are the Artiga de Lin route, for scenic cycling; the Lagos de Colomers trail, around the region's glacial lakes; the Ribera de Barrados route, for birdwatching, and the Vilamòs y Arres, a hermitage path starting at one of the valley's oldest villages. Via the nearby N-230, drive for 15 minutes to reach adventure park Naturaran, to swing around treetops in another spectacular setting of the Catalan Pyrenees.
