It's free, quick and easy!
- Adults-only glampsite 100 metres from a sandy Costa Brava beach
- A 40-minute drive from Girona; an hour and 25 minutes from Barcelona
- Surfing, yoga, beach games, boat parties, club nights and city tours
In search of hols with a combo of laidback mornings and busy afternoons, where you’ll meet loads of new people and have loads of fab experiences? Make immediate tracks for Costa Brava Beach Camp, an adults-only glampsite in Platja d’Aro, 40 minutes’ drive from the Catalonia city of Girona.
This is a top spot for anyone who wants an active hol with none of the stress of organising one – the site team will do all the planning. Days start off with yoga sessions on the beach (which is just 100 metres from the site) and a hot breakfast, then move on to lazy paddling explores of the Costa Brava coastline, cooling swims in the sea or hours of soaking up that Spanish sun on the beach.
Afternoons up the ante, encouraging a little more activity from guests: stick to the sand for beach games of football, volleyball or frisbee; opt for surf classes, or kayaking and snorkelling tours; sign up for a trip to explore the neighbouring towns; or nab a spot on one of the buses into Barcelona (an hour and 25 minutes away). There are local market visits on Fridays for souvenir buys.
Evenings kick off with dinner (included in the price, and with dietary requirements catered for), then tend to move back down to the beach for drinks with new friends or a trip into Platja d’Aro to try out the local pubs and clubs (the site team will advise on hotspots, and some have discounted entry for guests). Fancy something more extravagant? An evening in Barcelona might fit the bill…

Local attractions
Any free time is easily filled round here: there are plenty of restaurants and bars to try out in town (a five-minute drive or half-hour walk), but if something more active is called for, try the ziplines and climbing walls at Costa Brava Parc Aventura, or test mettle on the highest rope course in Costa Brava, Everest Costa Brava – both within 25 minutes’ walk of the site.
Fancy splashing around instead? There’s a waterpark five minutes’ drive away, and swimming, canoeing, kayaking and boating at Banyoles lake, an hour from the site. Landlubbers won’t be left high and dry here either – there’s bike and Segway hire at the lake, as well as lots of mountain biking routes and walking trails.
City days are handily taken care of in Barcelona and Girona: head to the latter (40 minutes from base) for museums, old city walls and monasteries, and make the 85-minute journey to the Catalonia capital for museums, Gaudí architecture, the old Gothic quarter, an aquarium, a zoo, and the world-famous La Sagrada Familia.
