Costa Brava, here you come. Founded in 1961 and still going strong, Nice Camps - L'Estartit, in Girona’s seaside town of L’Estartit, really has a wow of a location. It’s the resort’s only seafront campsite with direct access to the beach, and it’s surrounded by the mountains and protected seascapes of the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park. With a backdrop of the craggy Montgrí foothills, the spacious grass pitches are neatly divided by leafy plants and trees for extra privacy. Modern facilities aimed at making life easy on site include shower blocks (there’s also a shower exclusively for any dogs holidaying with you), a laundrette and drying room. Amenities for younger kids include a playground and kids' club with all sorts of fun activities – and not forgetting the (supervised and accessible for all) swimming pool, with its sun deck, inflatable climbing course and slides. And of course, the sandy expanse of L’Estartit beach is (literally) steps away, for views to the Medes Islands – one of the best diving destinations in the Med. Keeping everybody fed and watered on site poses no problems either, as you can stock up on barbecue basics at the small supermarket, and there’s a bar-restaurant (open May to September) serving family meals, and a takeaway pizza service too.

Liked Campsite was very clean ,tiolets and washing up area also very clean.very nice beach and a stone throw away.will definitely come again. 👌

Disliked Did not like how we had to walk up. Beach to shop,because shop on campsite said they are closed till Saturday could not get any shopping, not nice.

Liked Great location to the beach, which has some good bars and just a short walk are loads more bars restaurants with a great atmosphere. The site was good value. The staff and the other campers all very friendly

Disliked Chaos on arrival , nobody seemed to know anything about the booking
Worst thing ...could not leave before 8am , I wanted to leave at 7 am ...trapped in , made me late

Liked This is a large site in a fab location. It has some great facilities and the staff are great. In addition to this you can buy WiFi which was cheap and worked well, the laundry machines are good. It also has a bar and pool but these were closed which we were told about before booking so no complaints and they both looked great.

Disliked Was not sure why the pool and restaurant were shut as the site was busy but no complaints as we were informed it would be closed.

Liked Prix correct, 2 nuits en septembre. Grand camping toute en longueur et au bout la plage! Personnel au top, aimable et serviable, sanitaires propre et bien entretenu. Grande piscine. A coté du centre ville.

Disliked Peut-être un manque d'arbre pour l'été. Sinon bien 👍

Local attractions

L’Estartit is watersports central. From the beach, families can have a go at dinghy sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing along the coastline. The Medes Islands (10 minutes by boat) are famed for their snorkelling and scuba diving among coral and in limestone caves – regular scuba classes are held in Nice Camps - L'Estartit’s pool for all levels of ability – but if that’s all too much for younger kids, there is safe swimming in gentle waves off the beach. Turning inland, active families can yomp trails through scrubland to the austere, 13th-century Montgrí Castle (an hour and a half’s walk) for views back down to the coast, or follow waymarked routes up to Ermita de Santa Caterina (an hour and 25 minutes) to see the spectacular gilded altar and ceiling decorations in the vaulted nave. For a day immersed in Catalan culture, Girona (45 minutes’ drive) has medieval walls to stroll and a tangle of cobbled alleys in its atmospheric old town, all dominated by the Romanesque facade of its landmark cathedral. When you need a rest from sightseeing, bag a table in pretty Plaça Independencia and relax with a glass of chilled beer.
