If you want to immerse yourself in traditional Catalonia, mix with the locals and settle down in a peaceful place near an old Catalonian village, we reckon Camping Rupit in the Barcelona region will fit the bill.
The site is in a peaceful and remote rural setting, in an area of outdoor activities like horse riding, trekking and cycling in the nearby valley of Sau-Collsacabra. Barcelona is just under 100 kilometres away for day trips.
If you'd rather stay in peace on site, lots is here to do: the bar and restaurant in an old stone building is a popular meeting place for locals because of its friendly atmosphere and its good food, and there's also a playground, a communal barbecue area, a sports ground and an indoor games room with a pool table, ping pong and table football. An outdoor pool and toddlers' pool is on site for warm day dips.
The Camping Rupit team organises regular entertainment throughout July and August.

Route directions
Rupit is located 30km south of Olot. From Olot head south on the C152 and take exit signposted Rupit onto the C153. Continue on this road for approximately 27km. The campsite is approximately 1km from the entrance of Rupit.

Local attractions
This is a spectacular region for scenery and outdoor days, whether trekking and cantering around the local countryside or cycling and strolling in the Sau-Collsacabra valley. Watersports and hiking are popular picks in and around the Sau Reservoir at the town of Vilanova de Sau.
Camping Rupit is just outside the traditional rural Catalonian village of Rupit with its sixteenth century streets and paved alleys. The cliffs nearby are popular places for walks and birdwatching.
The Garrotxa volcanoes and Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park are also easily accessible nearby, along with the Lava Theme Park and its train routes around the craters.
