If the idea of Spanish mountains, waterfalls and hillside villages with stone houses sounds pretty attractive, just wait until you get a look at Camping Puigcercós. Surrounded by the mountains of the Barcelona region and the Pre-Pyrenees, it has an outdoor swimming pool and a restaurant with both Spanish fare and a terrace. If a recipe for relaxation were ever to exist, it might be something like this. The site is set in the mountains, near a river called Riera de Merlès. A 20-minute riverside walk will get you to a waterfall and a natural pool with fresh, clear water (yet another place to cool off on any hot days). There are mountainous hiking trails in the surrounding valleys, as well as opportunities to get out mountain biking and canoeing. The scenery varies by season, each one bringing new colours to feast your eyes on. This is a splendid spot for friends, families and couples alike, as well as dog owners. The restaurant has a varied menu with local flavours, and if the kids need somewhere to burn off their energy after a little extra sugar, you can take them to the site’s ping pong table and playground. Grocery supplies for self-catering plans can be picked up in Borredà, around 10 minutes’ drive away from the site. When not on site, you may like to fill your time by visiting the towns and villages around Borredà. Within a 15- to 35-minute drive from the site, Vilada, La Quar, Sagàs, Alpens and Cercs are all good places to meet locals and learn about their culture.

Liked The host family were a delight. Such incredibly welcoming and lovely people. My pitch was great, although very large motorhomes like mine need to be careful with the tight turns required to get onto the site. After 10pm I didn’t hear a sound and that was with many families on the site.

Disliked Nothing. Just be careful on the tight roads leading to the site, if you drive a large motorhome.

Liked Ein toller kleiner Campingplatz mitten im Wald. Wunderbar ruhig und mit direktem Zugang zu einer wilden Badestelle im Fluss. Der Pool auf dem Gelände kostet ein kleines Geld extra, ist dafür aber auch top gepflegt - es lohnt sich an heißen Tagen auf jeden Fall. Hauptsächlich spanische Dauercamper auf dem Gelände, alle sehr freundlich. Jederzeit gerne wieder.

Disliked La zona de caravanes fixes es veu una mica deixada per part dels propietaris.
Tampoc em va semblar bé haver de pagar 3 euros per persona per accedir a la piscina.

Liked Very friendly and helpful staff.
Very clean and maintained well.

Disliked Wifi signal is not great as you're in the mountains so would maybe be beneficial if they get a strong router to cover the whole site.

Liked Absolutely nothing.

Disliked This site is a hole.Council estate on steroids just doesn't cover it.From the reception i received, I just knew what was instore.The pitch was surrounded by grubby permanent statics and utter sheds.Who ever said this was a quite site(the reason I booked it)wants a talking to.The non stop shouting/screaming/crying till long into the night was something to behold.5 kids setting up a tent on my pitch,a dog coming into my awning and another dog pissing on it.Absolutly no respect whatsoever, shrugged there shoulders when I had the temerity to say something. I was booked and payed for 6 nights,I lasted 2 and couldn't get away quick enough.No point talking to the owners,it would have made no difference. You know the type of site it's going to be when they unroll the extension reel for you to plug into.Be warned,enter at your own risk.
And the reason they charge for the pool(utterly surprised no-one has worked it out)is because it's a virtual permanent site with tenants, it's run like a council pool.Same reason no toilet paper/soap.
I couldn't get away quick enough.

Local attractions

Frankly, you might be quite busy during your time at Camping Puigcercós, as it's set between Osana, Berguedà and Ripollès and the local area is dotted with lookouts, mountain towns, trails and waterfalls… First things first, make your way to Salt's Gorg (15 minutes’ drive), a gorgeous 20-metre-ish waterfall and natural pool just outside of Borredà (10 minutes), which by the way is home to pretty 17th and 18th-century houses. Also just outside of Borredà is Església de Sant Sadurní de Rotgers (20 minutes), a Romanesque church accessible by a sloping trail. It's hard to resist a hike with a reward. Out of the many mountain villages and towns surrounding the site, a couple of splendid picks are Alpens (15 minutes), centred around a 10th-century church, and Cercs (35 minutes), on the banks of the Llobregat river and home to a mining museum. If museums are your thing, Vic (45 minutes) also has a couple (including a medieval art museum and one on leathers), along with markets and festivals on occasion.
