  • Peaceful site on the edge of Graus, 'gateway to the Pyrenees'
  • Posets-Maladeta Nature Reserve and Pico Aneto an hour’s drive
  • Swimming pool, restaurant and playground with volleyball court
Gorgeous views, fantastic fresh air and plentiful outdoor activities? It has to be the Pyrenees, and the various national parks that are strewn around this mountainous area. It's all yours for the taking when you book a place at peaceful Camping Fuente de Regrustán, an Aragon site on the outskirts of Graus village (about 10 minutes' walk from the town centre). This well-equipped and family-friendly site puts you within the foothills of the Iberian range, within an hour's drive of the Posets-Maladeta Nature Reserve and of Pico Aneto, its highest mountain. And on days when you don’t fancy driving that far (or summoning the energy to summit a 3,000-metre peak), there are more manageable climbing challenges closer to the site, such as the Tozal del Soldado 863m (20 minutes' drive). After your climbing exploits, the on-site outdoor pool is just the place for a little rest and relaxation, whether you go for a dip or just chill on the lawn taking in the glorious views of forested mountains. The site also includes a play area where the kids can let loose on a trampoline, shoot hoops on the miniature basketball court or challenge new friends to a game of volleyball. The town's football pitch is just next door too, so you might be able to join or catch a game there. At dinnertime, head to the on-site restaurant, or book a table at any of the local restaurants: there are several in the village or along the main road heading that way.

Local attractions

Graus is sometimes known as ‘gateway to the Pyrenees’, and while it’s certainly a good base for mountain-based activities, it’s also a lovely place in its own right. Start your stay with a stroll around the village to admire its decorated houses, see the medieval bridge and sample some of the local longaniza sausage. As you head out of town to find hiking trails or climbing routes, you may like to plan stops at places like the hillside Basilica Virgen de la Peña (five minutes’ drive) and Dag Shang Kagyu Buddhist Center (20 minutes). There are also various vineyards and wineries dotted around – ask on site for recommendations of places to try out. If you don’t mind travelling a little further there’s more fabulous scenery to explore in the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park (55 minutes), around the Embalse de Santa Ana and in the Aiguabarreig Segre-Noguera Pallaresa area (both an hour). With a Gothic cathedral, Roman walls and an intriguing mix of medieval and Art Nouveau architecture, Huesca (an hour) is another lovely place to visit.
