  • Well-maintained Almería holiday park with sea views
  • A kilometre from Las Negras; Almería city 50 minutes' drive
  • Outdoor pool, watersports, kids' play area, restaurant and food shop
It's all about the beach at WeCamp Cabo de Gata, where the deep blue waters and rocky vistas of the Andalusian coastline are never more than a few steps away. Located in Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, a protected area home to tons of wildlife, this well-kept site is about a kilometre outside the seaside village of Las Negras, a peaceful spot with restaurants, ice cream stands and a traditional whitewashed windmill. You won't need to do any driving here if you're after places to swim or surf – the mix of sand and shingle spots between the site and the village have plenty of quiet areas where you can settle down for some sunshine. Undersea diving is also highly recommended, and in the high season site staff are on hand to kit you out with scuba equipment and sort initial training. WeCamp Cabo de Gata can also organise kayak rental, snorkelling and boat trips out to remote beaches that can’t be reached by land. Back at base, other leisure facilities include an outdoor pool, a kids' play area and open-air exercise machines. The park is well-equipped for practical needs too, with a restaurant, food shop, free wifi and a laundry room. The friendly staff at reception will be happy to help you settle into the local area, but for more detailed itineraries or maps you may want to head to the nearest tourist information centre in Rodalquilar (10 minutes' drive).

Standard power optional gravel and earth travel trailer campsite

Liked The location, is great, at the side of a beach, with La Negra a seaside town next door.
Great facilities, the showers and toilets were very clean, and well presented.
Peaceful place, May visit again sometime.

Disliked Restaurant and Bar area were all closed, we were not told in advance.
The guy who checked us in said, all we had done was paid pitch up a booking fee.
He did a new booking, told me it was29 euros then charged 38 euros, plus the booking fee, it made it an expensive stay.
The road down to the camp is very dangerous, it spirals across the cliff side as limited room, if you meet a vehicle coming the opposite way you have trouble.

A well run oasis!

Liked Spacious, shaded pitch. Very clean facilities. Nice pool area, access to the beach and walk into Las Negras. Well stocked shop and friendly staff.

Disliked Access road is a bit scary! Maybe a traffic light system could improve this?

Liked Just perfect! Gorgeous site, lovely modern decor. Quiet, stunning location in a valley by the beach. Short walk into Las Negras where we had a fabulous paella at Las Barcas over looking sea. Cannot fault the site, book a double putchbif you want somewhere to sit by your motorhome, otherwise a bit small. Facilities great. Nice beach bar, pool cold but it was Feb. Would definitely return.

Liked We booked 3 nights and stayed 6!! Loved it so much we extended. The site is perfect in every way. The staff are helpful and efficient. It was nice they show you to your pitch on a scooter! The decor of the whole site is so lovely! Howers and toikets are spotless! Pitches are a good size, we had a bigger one and glad we did, motorhome in shade but us in the sun. The location is stunning! Perfect in every way, we will be back. Thank you

Local attractions

Rodalquilar (10 minutes' drive) is a good place to start when you venture away from Las Negras – with its gold mines, botanical garden, castle and viewpoints, there's something in this small town to keep most visitors interested. Next up is Agua Amarga (30 minutes), where fine sandy beaches and the Mesa de Roldán lighthouse and hiking area make for thoroughly decent days out. Leave the coast behind and head inland to explore the desert-like landscapes around Níjar (30 minutes), where you can pick up artisan-made souvenirs at one of the town's small-scale ceramics factories, take a turn round a spectacular cactus garden, visit the town's museum or hike up to an old watchtower for far-reaching views over the surrounding area. Once you've seen a bit of town and country, head to Almería city (50 minutes) for more urban days out. With a cathedral, Spanish Civil War caves and a 10th-century fortress to its name, this place is quieter than many Andalusian cities but still has a lot of historic attractions to explore, plus big-city shopping opportunities at Mediterráneo shopping centre.
