The bags are packed, the sandals are slipped on and you’re off to the Algarve coast. Before you set off for any silky beaches or seaside terraces, set up your base at Oasis Camp in Lagoa, which is rather dreamy indeed… The site has a natural swimming pond made of clear spring water and right on site, there’s a surf camp providing equipment rental and multi-day lessons. If surfing isn’t quite your thing, there are also fitness activities and yoga classes to get stuck into. Having Lagoa as your location is excellent too. With rows of whitewashed house, many from the 18th century, there’s plenty to do, whether it’s surfing, dining on typical Portuguese cuisine, visiting Castelo de São João do Arade or driving under 20 minutes to sandy beaches like Praia dos Caneiros and Marinha beach. Oasis Camp has 50,000 square metres of greenery, and as if that isn’t enough to help you relax already, there’s also the natural swimming pond, a pool table and a table tennis table. The site runs communal barbecue evenings, as well as excursions across the Algarve. There’s a chilled-out atmosphere, that’s for certain.

This campsite has a relaxed, natural vibe with an eco-pool & farm animals. Guests loved the friendly staff & chilled atmosphere, with some extending stays. The location is great for exploring. However, facilities are basic, with issues like insufficient restrooms, dust, and occasional power/water outages. One guest had pitch issues, but the manager apologized for and addressed the power problem.

Liked After a cold awful night on pitch 8 with no electricity , the host apologised explaining that the site was being refurbished and agreed that we would not be charged for the electricity we could not get or the following night that we would not stay.
We had a very reasonable conversation and parted on good terms.
I trust the host will keep to his word.

Disliked We disliked spending a cold noisy night on this site. I imagine young people with a tase for parties and rave music would find this site exciting.

Liked Bonjour, nous avons aimé l'espace baignade, les espaces détente. 😀

Disliked Sanitaires sommaires, pas très fonctionnel. Trop de poussière au passage des véhicules. Manque d'entretien du matériel en général. Dommage !

Liked Excellent location for exploring the Algarve. We booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 5 as we were really comfortable there.

Disliked We were not pre warned that we could not pay by credit card so had to withdraw cash locally.

Disliked douches,kunnen beter.
en waar is het restaurant.daar 3 nachten verbleven.en nog waren we er niet uit waar het was.

Disliked Also man darf keine Ansprüche haben außer es macht einem nichts aus, dass es keine Waschbecken gibt, d.h. die Zähne müssen im Spülbecken geputzt werden, wo noch die Spülreste vom Vorabend drin liegen. Der Strom kam, zumindest bei unserem Stellplatz, von einer Kabeltrommel die einfach offen da lag(wenigstens hat es nicht geregnet). Die Sonnensegel, falls am Stellplatz vorhanden, hängen so weit runter, dass die Dachluke quasi zugedeckt ist. Bezahlen kann man auf dem ganzen Platz nur mit Paypal, nicht mit Karte und auch nicht mit Bargeld. Es gibt nur wenig Toiletten und Duschen gemeinsam für Männlein und Weiblein.

Liked Adoramos a localização pois apesar de estar numa zona sossegada, estamos a 10/15minutos de carro de imensas localizações interessantes. O lago para tomar banho era simplesmente maravilhoso com água a temperatura ótima e super limpa. Gostamos muito, estava tudo muito limpo, perfeito para descansar.

Disliked A única coisa que não gostei foi de ter os balneários e casas de banho mistos pois não me senti muito á vontade. No entanto fiquei surpreendida pela positiva pois mesmo sendo poucas unidades para tomar duche e casas de banho, estava sempre tudo limpo,mesmo durante a noite.

Disliked the toilets are small and dirty, the same goes for the showers. And we paid €20 in taxes in cash the 2nd day, the website says that there’s no tax included and still we had to pay extra. Also the ground is really hard so if you have a tent watch out.

Local attractions

If surfing isn’t quite your cup of tea, it’s still possible to get the kids into the water without so much stepping foot on the beach. Slide & Splash (10 minutes’ drive) is a popular water park in Lagoa with slides rather than surfboards. Many of the Algarve’s most popular spots are, of course, within driving distance too. Will you start with Lagos (half an hour), where there’s a steep descent to Praia do Camilo, dramatic cliffs with a lighthouse, a castle and all the stunning terraces within the walled old town? Or instead, begin with Albufeira (25 minutes), which is just a tad quicker to get to? At this spot, join a diving trip (or a dolphin-watching trip if you don’t fancy going down under). Faro (45 minutes) is another stunning location, with plenty of stunning coastal scenery for cyclists to breathe in, as well as a cobbled old town, 13th-century cathedral and a museum in a convent.
