Camping Mounewetter is a spacious site just outside the town of Witmarsum in Friesland, around 6km from the Dutch coast. An official bicycle camp, it is conveniently located for those exploring the Friesian Eleven Cities route. The site has a bar/café, takeaway, multi-sports field, wifi, cable TV and playground. Guests also have free access to the swimming pool next door to the site. Washrooms have baby facilities and disabled access, and there is a washing-up area and a launderette with washing machine and tumble dryer. A professional recreation team organises kids' activities during the school holidays. The site sits next to the Wytmarsumer Feart canal, and motorboats or canoes can be hired on site so that you can set off directly from the jetty. Hiking is available in the 12-hectare forest next to the site, and there is also a golf course nearby. As well as the longer Eleven Cities route there are other cycle routes nearby, including trails to take you to the beach.
