Get into the island vibe during your stay in glamping tents at Little Canvas Escape, with a spectacular setting among sand dunes and (literally) steps from the beach on Ameland in the Wadden Islands.
Booking a stay in these capacious pre-erected tents means no roughing it whatsoever – proper beds have quality linen, towels are provided, and there’s plenty of storage for all your gear, as well as thoughtful extras like bunting for that festival feeling.
Each unit also has a fridge and cooking facilities, so you can rustle up alfresco meals on the barbecue, for evenings spent soaking up the sea views from your private deck.
This cosy and intimate glampsite also shares the facilities of neighbouring site Camping Duinoord, so if you don’t want to cook, there’s a canteen and snack bar right next door. There’s also a mini-market for picking up anything you’re forgotten on the food front, and you can order fresh bread every morning.
So… there's luxury and convenience aplenty at Little Canvas Escape, but you still get the feeling of being immersed in nature. This is a place where you can take time to find out what it’s like to walk barefoot through the grass, take a refreshing dip in the sea or simply watch the sun set over the North Sea after a day of exploring Ameland.

- No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

- Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.
- Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.

Local attractions
Left your bikes at home? No problem – rent cycles at Little Canvas Escape and follow bike paths all around Ameland, from the sand dunes edging the North Sea to the dike on the Wadden Sea (15 minutes’ bike ride) coastline. Due to the (almost) ever-present wind, cycling can sometimes be a bit of an effort, so rent an e-bike or electric scooter and take the effort out of pedalling (you are on holiday, after all).
Prefer to do your adventuring on foot? Stroll along the beach to the landmark red-and-white striped Bornrif Lighthouse (about two hours' walk) and see the whole island from its lookout deck. Learn about the island in World War II at the Bunkermuseum Ameland (about two and a half hours' walk), or dodge the history altogether and head for the dinosaur skeletons and aquarium at Natuurcentrum Ameland (10 minutes) if the kids are getting restless.
More strenuous activity needed? Wear everyone out on the rope courses and climbing walls at Outdoor Ameland (20 minutes).
