It's free, quick and easy!
- Peaceful site sandwiched between the De Bergvennen nature reserve
- Cycle to the German border and two swimming pools within 20 minutes
- Swimming pond, fishing pond, sandy beach and plenty of space
You’ll have a whopping 100 hectares’ worth of nature reserve to navigate your way through from Camping De Bergvennen in the Netherlands, close to the border with Germany. This site’s edged on two sides by the De Bergvennen park, where there’s a bird sanctuary, fens and forest to wander, as well as species of all sorts to spot.
The site has a swimming pond with a sandy beach, and an additional pond in a peaceful setting for fishing. There’s loads more to do here for all ages too: several small playgrounds, beach volleyball, field volleyball and a football field are all to hand for more energetic times. The team also lays on entertainment and activities in summer… and if you’re up for some night owling afterwards, two big nightclubs, Zak and Index, are 25 minutes' drive away in Germany.
De Bergvennen is just under 10 minutes’ drive from Lattrop-Breklenkamp, in the Overijssel province to the country’s east. Getting out and about is easy from here, as the German border is reachable in about 20 minutes by bike. For sporty types, eight cycling routes (from 20 to 70 kilometres) await in the surrounding countryside.
As the site’s set up beside that aforementioned nature reserve, it’s been kept as a green and peaceful place with plenty of natural vegetation and tons of room all around. Amenities include three bathroom blocks with hot water, plus a launderette with a washing machine and dryer.

Local attractions
Stargazers might want to behold the skies from the observatory and planetarium at Lattrop by night, a five-minute drive from Camping De Bergvennen, or take a dip by day at the subtropical swimming pool in Denekamp (reachable in 10 minutes by car or about 20 on a bike). For cold-water splash sessions, Nordhorn’s outdoor pool with diving tower and wave pool is about the same distance away.
Landgoed Singraven, a country estate and park worth a shout for lazy ambles, is 15 minutes from the site, as are the Natura Docet Wonderryck Twente, a local museum in green surrounds, and Nordhorn and its zoo.
Further afield, Lingen is 40 minutes away – use it as your jumping-off point for wild swims at Wachendorfer Lake – and province capital Zwolle is an hour and 15 minutes to the west.
For urban wanders round towns, drive 50 minutes to Germany’s Meppen, or an hour to the Dutch municipality of Emmen with its amusement parks and zoos.
