Pisa, Lucca and the Tuscany coast are all easy to reach from Camping dei Tigli near the city of Viareggio: it's a kilometre or 10-minute walk to the nearest beach and less than 20 kilometres from the leaning tower and the province capital. Don't want to stroll sandwards? Take the site's shuttle bus to and from the beach in high season.
Although it's a family-friendly place and well set up for the same, Camping dei Tigli also warmly welcomes couples, mature guests, student groups and solo travellers (and canine campers too). It has a good selection of activities and events for all ages during high season – archery, music and a kids' club are a few of the offerings – and there's also a pool open between June and the end of August (small charge applies), a playground, a football pitch, volleyball court and bike hire.
Other facilities include a bar-restaurant and pizzeria and a grocery shop. Guests have access to discounted rates for the use of facilities on the beach.

Local attractions
Camping dei Tigli's local town is Torre del Lago, a small settlement on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. It's most famed as a place where the composer Puccini lived and worked; his house these days is open to visitors interested in his life and works.
The nearby seaside resort of Viareggio, the second biggest city in Lucca province and a good spot for bars, restaurants and nightlife, is also home to the carnival of Viareggio, held since the 19th century in the weeks running up to Easter.
Both Lucca and Pisa are within half an hour's drive; a little further afield are the other essential Tuscany day trips of Siena, Florence and San Gimignano.
