It's free, quick and easy!
- 10 minutes' walk from the beach in the centre of Lido di Camaiore
- Pisa, Lucca and walks in the Apuan Alps within a half-hour drive
- Two swimming pools, poolside bar, tennis court and football pitch
A short stroll from shops and restaurants, and a leisurely 10-minute trot from the beach – as handy hangouts go, Camping Versilia Mare is a cracker.
And it’s not just any old beach – folks have been flocking to Lido di Camaiore for many a century to spend time on the four-kilometre sandy stretch. These days visitors can settle on a sun lounger at one of the serviced areas or sign up for surf lessons to learn the art of wave catching. There’s also easy access to the seafront promenade and bike path for strolls and cycling, and to the train station for jaunts further afield (to Lucca, Pisa or Viareggio perhaps); the Apuan Alps are around half an hour away for folks who’d like to take in the mountain air instead.
Stick around on site for a bit and there’s plenty to keep you busy, including an open-air swimming pool and kids’ pool, a tennis court, small football pitch and table tennis. Kids are entertained with plenty of activities in the summer months, and there are also games of water polo or football organised for the grownups, along with weekly poolside parties for the less sporty types.
For on-site eats, the poolside bar kicks the morning off with a breakfast buffet and then provides cool drinks throughout the day; there’s also a barbecue area for guests to use.

Local attractions
There’s lots to do in Lido di Camaiore itself – when not spending time on that splendid beach, grab some lessons at Versilia Surf Club, swing your clubs on the golf course a few minutes’ drive away or take the nippers on a 15-minute walk to Parco Pitagora for an indoor playground and amusement park.
Folks seeking city strolls can easily roam to Viareggio in around 20 minutes or so by car or train; music lover or not it’s worth trotting out to Torre del Lago to see the gorgeous former home of the composer Giacomo Puccini. From Viareggio station you can easily connect with services to Pisa or Lucca, or beyond to Florence. A little closer to home (15 minutes’ drive) is the medieval town of Pietrasanta, famed for its marble and bronze sculptors.
Fancy some fresh air? It’ll take you 20 minutes or so to drive to the hiking path around the Candalla waterfalls, or half an hour to get to some top birdwatching spots at Massaciuccoli Lake. Sliding underground instead, the Antro del Corchia caves are 40 minutes away.
