It’s hard to know what the best thing about Glamping Stregaia is – this site in the Tuscan hills is a place where the glamping accommodation is equally as fabulous as the gorgeous surroundings.
Wend your way up into the hills about 10 minutes’ drive from Massa Marittima and you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful retreat where the stylish tents are tucked away around a 45-acre site with spectacular views across Lago dell’Accesa to the landscapes of the Maremma.
It’s the kind of scenery that any sensible person would happily sit down and gawp at for many an hour – and handily such activity has been made nice and easy for guests at this site, where each of the tents has its own private outdoor area with a terrace, comfy seating and an outdoor bath. It’s a fabulous spot to settle in at any hour of the day – serve your breakfast out here, enjoy an aperitif and snacks with a view or cosy up for an evening of stargazing.
Inside, each tent is just as lovely – they’ve all got their own private bathroom and kitchen area, plus comfy bedrooms and living space. Bed linen and towels are provided to keep your packing list light, and the whole place has been stylishly designed to give that luxury lifestyle feeling.
You may find it difficult to drag yourselves away from all this, but that’s something you simply must do – perhaps for mountain bike excursions, horse riding days or boat trips along the coast to the gorgeous Cala Violina beach.

Local attractions
If you fancy some nice easy excursions, have a word with the team on site – they can organise things like boat trips, horse riding and guided mountain bike outings for you. There are also several walking trails nearby, not to mention vineyards and wineries where you can drop in for a tour, a tasting and perhaps a bottle of something for sunset drinks back on your tent’s terrace.
Take a little trip to Massa Marittima (10 minutes’ drive) too – not just for meals and snack supplies but also for the cathedral, Torre del Candeliere and Fondazione Museo Santa Cecilia - Museo degli Organi. Other little outings to try nearby include the family-friendly Aquarium Mondo Marino (five minutes) and the highly fragrant Azienda Agricola Lavanda di Maremma (25 minutes).
Down at the coast, you can hit the beaches or waterpark in Follonica (20 minutes), walk coastal trails and play golf at Punta Ala (35 minutes) or hike through the forest to the remote Cala Violina beach (half an hour). Piombino is 40 minutes away for ferries to Elba.
