  • Well-equipped Lombardy site for active family holidays
  • Castello di Chignolo Po 15 minutes' drive; an hour to Milan
  • Waterpark on site with slides and a whirlpool, plus padel and football
Sport is definitely the name of the game at Sportingclub La Palazzina – with heaps of facilities for all ages, it’s just the place for an active family holiday in the Lombardy countryside. Where to start? For many guests it’s probably the waterpark, which has two pools, a whirlpool, waterslides and water games for the kids. After that, maybe a game of beach volleyball, football or padel tennis… or perhaps some chillout time at the relaxation area, which is kitted out with loungers and umbrellas for those who’d like to slow down for a little while. Alongside all of this are changing rooms with showers and toilets (including accessible facilities) to help you stay clean and comfortable. Food and drink will be vital too, of course – and they’re easily sorted with a bar and snack bar at the park. Another bar and restaurant are within a couple of kilometres of the park, and the village of San Colombano al Lambro (10 minutes’ drive) has places to eat and pick up self-catering supplies. Although there’s plenty to do on site, it’s well worth allocating some time to exploring the area as well – there are plenty of walking trails, wineries, traditional villages and historic buildings like churches and castles to visit, and Milan is only an hour’s drive away.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked Love the place, been here for two days now. the owner is amazing and the staff is very friendly and welcoming.
The waterpark is free for campingguests and there are lots of things to do. Defenatly coming here again. There are some different bugs here and there but hey, we are in the Italian countryside and quite frankly they havent bothered us at all or even landed on us once.

Disliked The bathroom facilities could indeed use an upgrade. But the longer we stay the less we care 😅

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked We found this campsite as a stop off on the way to lake garda from the south of france.

Was a bit dubious travelling up the lane as quite remote. Wonderfull friendly welcome. Level grass pitch. Was very quiet. 16amp hook up so could use air con. More of a leisure club then a caravan park. Pools, padle courts. Bar etc. Was a fantastic stay and would stop again.

Disliked Bathroom/shower facilities are communal no single cubicles. Clean but desperate in need of updating.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked Really lovely site with a fantastic pool and bar area. Great sized pitches with electric hope up and bins.
Really friendly staff that spoke good English.
Pool and swimming facilities were fantastic and spotless with pools for all ages, including a kids splash park and slides. Life guard on duty at all times.
All facilities were included with the camping prices.
Well stocked bar area, very reasonably priced.
We would definitely return if In the area.

Disliked Changing/ bathroom facilities were very clean, however there were lots of bugs... The changing rooms would benefit from a zapper light. Can't be helped.

Local attractions

There’s plenty of enjoyment to be found in simply pottering around the local area, taking walks or bike rides along the dirt trails, seeking out vineyards and wineries to visit and dipping into local villages to try their restaurants and shops. A good focal point for a day out is Castello di Chignolo Po (15 minutes’ drive), a grand building nicknamed the ‘Versailles of Lombardy’. If you’d like a longer day out, there are several towns nearby that make good destinations – Lodi (25 minutes) has a printing museum and a stunning cathedral as well as the famous Tempio Civico dell’Incoronata, decorated with Renaissance frescoes, and Pavia (35 minutes) is an attractive riverside town with a covered bridge, the Visconti Castle and several museums and churches to visit. Looking a little further afield, an hour’s drive will take you either to Cremona to learn about its violin-making history or to Milan to tour the city’s world-famous landmarks: the Duomo, Teatro alla Scala and Pinacoteca di Brera for starters, and perhaps some window shopping in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
