The peaks of the Apuan Alps on one side, the Magra river on the other and a stretch of sandy beach a short drive away – Iron Gate Marina 3B certainly has a cast-iron claim to a splendid setting. The La Spezia surrounds may well be pretty special, but so is the park – it stretches out to a full nine hectares, much of it packed with pine trees and poplars, with direct access to the river (and the Mediterranean waters that lie beyond) from its own harbour area. Not in possession of your own boat? No need to be left on the land – you can hire small boats on site for aquatic adventures. If you'd rather cling a little closer to the coast it’s a 10-minute drive to the nearest beach, although you'll not have to navigate the journey for yourself as a free shuttle bus trundles between the site and the sands through the summer. Sticking steadfastly to dry land? Slope off to Sarzana with a 10-minute drive to hit the shops or mosey through the medieval streets. Should you not fancy either outing, you'll not miss out on swims and eats – there’s an outdoor pool and kids' pool on site, along with a mini market and bar/restaurant for easy eats and drinks. Togs looking a tad tired? Take them to get cleaned up at the launderette or splash out on some new ones at the site's clothing shop.

Liked Campeggio molto bello, servizi impeccabili, al ristorante si mangia bene, peccato che fanno entrare persone esterne per matrimoni, cresime, comunioni, compleanni per cui la quiete per chi è in campeggio a rilassarsi non esiste più.
Per il natante in acqua senza alaggio e varo è troppo caro.

Liked Un campeggio molto carino con piscine e tutti i servizi. C'è un autobus che parte dal resort, quindi parcheggiare è un gioco da ragazzi. Il resort in sé è carino e pulito, ed è un ottimo punto di partenza per esplorare Pisa, le Cinque Terre e altre località. La cittadina di Sarzana è molto affascinante, con numerosi supermercati, pub, ecc. nelle vicinanze. L'unico inconveniente è la strada statale che corre accanto al campeggio; non si vede, ma si sente. Nel complesso, tutta la mia famiglia è stata molto soddisfatta del soggiorno e torneremo sicuramente.

Liked Liked location beside the water/Marina. Great showers, powerful and clean. The front row had nice view across to park/river. If staying again would choose the more shady side pitches. Had a lovely pool (need bathing caps with can be bought at site shop). Relaxing site by day with the bonus of the grassy area beside river offering shade.

Disliked Mostly open plan pitches with no privacy. Noisy every night whilst we were there with music and microphone banter through to 11.30pm. Hoped it might have been a one off but carried on each night. Love music but this seemed like a kids club? Also helicopters in evening could be noisy at times. By day though it’s a relaxing and extremely pleasant site!

Liked Het zwembad (open van 11-19) en de speeltuin waren perfect voor onze 4 jarige. Sanitair was erg schoon en werd ook vaak schoongemaakt. Wasmachine aanwezig (tegen betaling via een app). Camperplek was prima voor een paar dagen.
(Wifi niet gebruikt maar moet toch gescoord worden).

Disliked De helikopters (zoals al eerder benoemd) waren inderdaad behoorlijk aanwezig maar n.a.v. eerdere reviews wisten we dat vooraf.

Liked Ruime standplaats, auto in de buurt, dit deel van de camping is lekker open (wij staan niet graag in het bos)
Het sanitair is prima (wat ouder, maar schoon), er is goed warm water, zowel bij de douches als de bij de afwasbakken. Er wordt regelmatig schoon gemaakt
We hadden een mooie plek aan de rivier (niet zwemmen) waar je ook heerlijk op het gras kunt liggen. Goed zwembad. Er is een restaurantje, winkel, goed bemande receptie en schappelijke prijzen. Geen muntjes nodig.
En er is veel meer in de buurt dan alleen Cinque Terre

Disliked Daar kan de camping niets aan doen, maar er worden 's avonds af en toe helicoptervluchten geoefend (Marine zit in de buurt)

Local attractions

It’s best to leave both your boat and your car behind for the day if you're planning an outing to the famed Cinque Terre National Park – boats and trains run from La Spezia (half an hour’s drive) to the park, giving you access to the colourful cliffside villages and walking trails without tackling tricky mountain roads. Pretty Portovenere is a good alternative for a day out, but you’ll need your car for this one – it's a 50-minute drive. More walks and outdoorsy activities? Make for the Montemarcello Natural Park, 15 minutes away, for woodland and coastal trails, plus walks around Lerici Castle, Punta Corva black-sand beach and the abandoned village of Barbazzano (all 20 minutes). For more challenging hikes and mountain bike days, the Apuan Alps are about half an hour away by car. Even if you're not planning to scale any mountains, it's worth heading that way anyway to see the stunning marble caves of Carrara (35 minutes). Swing past Sarzana (10 minutes) on the way back to see some of that marble put to good use in the cathedral, before taking a wander around the ancient walls and fortress.
