All roads lead to Rome – and all roads should lead to the beach too. The spectacular seafront setting of Camping Internazionale Castelfusano means you can have both: it's slap bang opposite a big sandy beach, and only 25 kilometres from the fab old piles and centuries of history of Rome. Campeggio Internazionale Castelfusano is three kilometres from the town of Ostia, under an hour from Rome by public transport. Base yourself here for beach days and city sightseeing, wildlife wanders in the State Natural Reserve of the Roman Coast next door, and proximity to sailing, horse riding, tennis and scuba diving, all within five kilometres. The site runs a kids' club in summer with activities such as crafts and juggling, alongside evening entertainment for all including live music and theme dinners. There's a pool and a playground, a TV room and table tennis, and a bar, restaurant and mini market. Among the amenities are a launderette with washing machines and tumble dryers; a washing-up area, and three washrooms with toilets and free hot showers. Barbecues are allowed and gas cylinders are available for sale.

Liked: Their on-site restaurant was good and their market was well stocked.

Disliked: When I checked in the receptionist tried to keep my passport for the duration of my stay. This rang alarm bells for me, but she relented when I said I wanted it back. She also gave me a bill saying that the remainder of my stay would come to 25 euros total and I could pay when I left. This seemed odd to me because all the other campsites I’ve stayed at had me pay up front, and Pitchup showed that I would owe a balance of 42 euros upon arrival. When it came time to leave, I went to pay and a different receptionist said it would be 72 euros total. When I showed him the bill I got when I entered the campsite he said that was a dummy bill and it was only so they could look up my information. This was not made clear to me at the time of receiving the bill. He further said that the balance was higher because I brought a car with me. However, when I booked an earth tent pitch on Pitchup it said that the cost of one car was included. I was expecting a slightly higher bill because of the tourist tax, but they up charged me by 30 euros with hidden costs. This combined with them trying to hold my passport gave me the impression that they try to take advantage of tourists by hitting them with a higher bill and holding their passport hostage so they have to pay. This is just speculation though based on my experience.

Liked: Sehr nah an Rom, mit sehr guter Anbindung an Rom und umliegende Supermärkte. Ticket war sehr günstig. Große Duschen.

Disliked: Niedrige Duschköpfe... Waschbecken für Geschirr war leider unsauber. Auf unsererm Zeltplatz waren sehr viele Pflanzen und Ameisen. Außerdem war dort auch eine Ratte unterwegs.

Rispondiamo solo per precisare che il campeggio sorge all'interno di una riserva naturale protetta e proprio per questo motivo non è possibile in nessun modo controllare o uccidere gli animali che la popolano; ovviamente vivere a contatto con la natura significa anche accettare la fauna che vive qui.

Liked: l'ombra nelle piazzole, la vicinanza alla spiaggia, la cortesia del personale, la possibilità di raggiungere il centro città di Roma con i mezzi pubblici

Disliked: la trascuratezza del campeggio sotto tanti punti (lavatrice rotta non sostituita, alcune zone del campeggio trasandate, il ristorante con cucina corretta ma poca scelta

Liked: Bardzo fajne miejsce. Obsługa bardzo pomocna, w sklepiku pracuje przesympatyczna Pani z Polski. Aby zwiedzić Rzym jedzie się autobusem z przystanku zaraz za bramą, podjeżdża prosto pod metro, które kursuje co chwilę. Można też wybrać się na plażę, która jest zaraz za ulicą. Polecam.

Local attractions

In between all those days in Rome, explore the local coastline and its beaches, the wildlife areas and heaps of other old sites and ruins in the region. Sailing, horse riding, tennis and scuba diving will keep you busy in and out of the water within five kilometres of the site. Next to Campeggio Internazionale Castelfusano is the State Natural Reserve of the Roman Coast, covering almost 16,000 hectares including the last section of the Tiber and the mouth of the Arrone river, in an area of dunes and villages, archaeological remains and pinewoods. The ruins of Ostia Antica and the Castle of Julius II are within the reserve, 10 kilometres from base. Rome, 25 kilometres away, has enough old sights (the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and St Peter's Basilica for starters) to keep you geekily occupied for yonks, but if you yearn for yet more, a good day trip is to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, 50 kilometres away at Tivoli. Less culturally but most amusedly, the Zoo Marine amusement park and Rainbow Magicland theme park are 10 and 40 kilometres away.

Bookings cannot be amended within 10 day(s) of arrival.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Unsupervised minors must have a letter of authorization from their parents or legal guardian.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

General

Entertainment and activities are available between 06/20 and 08/20.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and trunks must be closed quietly.
The grocery shop is open between 04/01 and 10/15.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behavior is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
