Pick your own flavour of beach with a sunny seaside stay at the Ravenna province's Villaggio Pineta: this fably-equipped holiday village is right on the sands with free access to an unserviced part for all guests, as well as access to a private serviced stretch with parasols and sunbeds if you'd prefer to be a bit more swish.
If it's a higher level of amusements you're after, guests can also bag discounted tickets to Mirabilandia, 10 minutes' drive away, and if it's shopping (and local cuisine sampling) you seek, the boutiques, bars and restaurants of Milano Marittima are within a couple of kilometres. The seaside town of Cervia is 10 minutes' drive to the south and spectacular province capital Ravenna is about 25 minutes to the north.
However. Whatever flavour of hol you opt for, all ages will want to spend significant time on site too, at the village's range of leisurely pursuits such as an outdoor pool, a playground, a games room and a TV room; a kids' club and a varied programme of entertainment and activities runs in summer too.
Your shopping bits and pieces are fully sorted here, at the newsagent, shop and bazaar where you can pick up food, drinks, souvenirs and clothes, and eats and drinks are fully covered at the restaurant, the bar and the pizzeria.

Ask the team to point you in the right direction of the huge variety of leisure options nearby, including a 27-hole golf course, an equestrian centre with national and international competitions, a go-karting track, archery, tennis courts, kayaking and canoeing. The team can also help to arrange excursions to local amusement and theme parks such as Aquafan and Italy in Miniature as well as Mirabilandia.
Local holiday resort and the former salt town of Cervia has summer festivals and events, the salt museum, the Borgo Marina fishing area, and several cycling routes around town and its surrounding maritime pine forest. If you're a hiker, 32 trails covering four zones meander through the forest's 260 hectares; if you're a relaxer, try the Terme di Cervia thermal baths.
For a day trip to one of the oldest republics in the world, San Marino is about an hour's drive away.
