The pool

General

  • Peaceful park among 13 green hectares with views of the Apennines
  • Under 10 minutes' drive from the famed spa town of Salsomaggiore Terme
  • Pools, waterslides, hydromassage pools and restaurant-pizzeria

Famed spas are within simple distance of Camping Arizona tucked among green hills in northern Italy's Parma province – not a surprise at all, you may think, given that the site is a few kilometres from the illustrious spa town of Salsomaggiore Terme.

A drive of under 10 minutes from Camping Arizona – or a wander of about 45 minutes should you be feeling sprightly – will land your serenity-seeking self at Emilia Romagna's Salsomaggiore Terme, a town acclaimed throughout Europe and beyond for its thermal salt waters. Even closer to home a few minutes' drive away are the Respighi spas of Tabiano Bagni, also famed, also salty and also essential to add to your holiday itinerary.

As befits such a spa-filled destination, Camping Arizona is a peaceful place: set among 13 hectares of greenery with views towards the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. It's well away from noisy and crowded tourist centres, but is easily accessible by car from the A1, or from Parma airport half an hour's drive away.

There's a top range of leisure facilities for all ages for days on site, including a waterpark with two big pools, a paddling pool, and waterslides to slip down. There are also two hydromassage pools, sun loungers for the topping up of one's tan, and other land-based leisurely pursuits including beach football, volleyball and a playground.

Camping Arizona also has a restaurant-pizzeria serving Parmesan and regional Italian dishes; a well-stocked shop with local and international food, and a bar open all day for breakfasts, snacks, cocktails and sports on the big screen TV.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Facilities/activities including football pitch and tennis court are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 05/19 and 09/16 (subject to weather conditions).

Dogs are not admitted in the swimming pool area.

The pool with slides is not included in the rate and 11 goes are €3.50. The slides are open from 02/06 - 30/08.

    The pool
We were there mid September and had the pool largely to ourselves. There are a few pools at this site and they’re all good.
The pitches are also good, spacious and level.

    Disliked:

    The location:
It is hard to find, but we just kept following our Apple Maps app and got there in the end.
    The receptionist:
We almost didn’t book this campsite because of the negative reviews. When we got there the older man on the reception desk had broken English and kept our passports until we checked out the following day. As with one of the other reviewers, when we went to check out and pay the following day, the receptionist refused to believe that we’d already paid Pitch-Up a deposit and wouldn’t give us our passports back until we’d paid the full amount. Anyway we just paid up and contacted Pitch-Up later to complain. Happy ending though, coz the campsite rang me later and they gave me a full refund 😀, so they did put it right. The moral of the story is, don’t mess with the receptionist, just go through legitimate channels!

From the manager...

Thank you for your appreciation about camping. Misunderstanding about deposit because at check in not show Pitch up reservation but we immediately check it and refund you. About Locationis can find very clear indication in our web site:
exit in Fidenza highway gate and follow for Tabiano Bagni 10km after the village of Tabiano 1 km you find the camping.
Hope to see in the future.

    Disliked:

Cost, extra for sun loungers at pool, dreadful 4A electrics, surly / rude reception. The low point of a 6 week Italian tour

From the manager...

We are sorry for your impression on our campsite.
As far as prices are concerned, we are generally less expensive than the sibling campsites.
Our bathrooms are cleaned every day carefully and our staff is very attentive.

    Leaving.

    Disliked:

A bad experience. First, the road to the campsite was blocked due to road repairs. Phoning for help was no help- told to ring back when I sorted it out. Finally arrived there with the help of a Dutch couple also trying to get there. That was bad but not as bad as my experience on checking out the next morning. I had booked a site via “Pitch Up” and paid a deposit to them. The older gentleman on the desk would not accept this and insisted very loudly and arrogantly that I pay the full amount. Only thanks to another departing (Italian) couple was the issue resolved. It was an experience I could have done without and would not wish on anyone else.

From the manager...

We are sorry for your experience with us.
About works on the road, they were only temporary and it is not allowed to put indications.
By telephone we have indicated to follow the indications for Tabiano that bring here to us.
By phone it is perhaps not so easy to give instructions.
Regarding the check-out the misunderstanding is due to the fact that you did not inform us at check-inthat you have a reservation. So we treated your stay as an arrival without a reservation and therefore without a deposit. Once clarified we immediately discount the deposit.

About four kilometres away are the baths and town of Salsomaggiore Terme, where the salt level in these famed waters is three times denser than in the Dead Sea. Further afield, the pools and spa treatments of Terme di Monticelli are within 45 minutes' drive.

For town and city days, Camping Arizona is 15 minutes' drive from Fidenza, where adventurers can investigate the region further via the Milano to Bologna train line. If you'd like to see both cities, Bologna is about an hour and 10 minutes from Fidenza and Milan an hour and 20.

Province capital Parma is within 40 minutes' drive.
