One spot to sashay towards on foot from this park is Château de Tallard, a 14th-century castle that often hosts shows and events (15 minutes’ walk). You might want to jump in the car to access other activities relatively nearby, though, such as horse riding (five minutes’ drive) and the rather refreshing rafting trips in Gap (20 minutes). Up for offbeat attractions with a rural flavour? Amble towards the Céüse goat farm (20 minutes) so younger members of your travel troupe can pet four-legged critters while older ones chomp on cheeses produced on site. La Ferme du Col farm, 20 minutes, is also aimed at the kiddos – watch as the sprogs fawn over exotic creatures such as ostriches and llamas. Hikes and swims, meanwhile, are to be had in the Les Gorges de la Méouge, half an hour away, a place carved from limestone with intriguing rock formations, teeny sandy beaches and refreshing waterholes to spot on an amble. For aquatic activities that are a tad more dramatic, head to Serre-Ponçon Lake (half an hour) and whoosh down the slides set up for you to plunge straight from the banks into its waters.
