How very clever. Predict a watery time all around at Camping La Célestine among the gorgeous green hills of Haute-Provence… not content with just a site swimming pool, the canny owners have created a lush 750m² natural pond for swimming, paddling and floating lazily on one's back gazing dreamily up at the passing clouds.
The 74-kilometre Asse river, a popular paddling and playing spot for tiddlers, weaves peacefully along one side of the site too; if your watery tastes tend more towards observing from a safe distance, a beach with sun loungers is at the edge of the pond for lazy afternoons avec book et possibly cocktail. And if your tastes are veering towards the more solitary, you'll be able to find several secluded spots to sink down in around these pretty and colourful grounds.
This is lovely land, in the middle of the Provençal hills, at the foot of the Valensole plateau and its huge, world-famed, lavender fields. Hiking trails of all levels run from the entrance of the site, to the splendid lavender fields, olive groves and truffle oaks all around; ask the friendly team for its knowledgeable recommendations on the best trails, join a guided hiking tour from the site, or leaf through the many brochures in reception to plan your own wandering day.
A couple of pétanque courts and a playground are at your and the kids' service too, along with a football field, a volleyball court and ping pong tables. To refuel, there's a restaurant open every summer evening, and a snack bar serving drinks, ice cream and crepes.
