It's free, quick and easy!
- Glamping site with mountain views in the Alpes de Hautes Provence
- A 10-minute drive to Lake Castillon; over an hour to Verdon Gorge
- Hiking, paragliding, fishing, windsurfing and quad biking nearby
Eyeing up glamping in the Alpes de Hautes Provence? These traditional Mongolian yurts entirely painted and carved by Mongolian craftsmen fit right into the mountain scenery. At an altitude of 956 metres, they’re far away from the business of the city and excellent for a peaceful, eco-friendly stay.
Every yurt has a comfy double bed, a single bed and an extra mattress. They have a table with four chairs, Mongolian furniture, a lamp and an outdoor table to have your coffee and look out over the lovely landscapes. A fridge, a microwave and a barbecue are free to use in the communal area.
For your days out, you’re pretty spoiled for choice. France’s deepest gorge, Verdon Gorge, is an hour and 10 minutes’ drive away, and has electric-blue water, hiking trails and white-water rafting activities. Lac de Castillon, which has splendid beaches with bright blue water, is around three kilometres away. Within around 10 kilometres of the site at the most, get stuck into paragliding, fishing, windsurfing, pedalo activities, hiking and quad biking too.
Tummy rumbling? Saint-André-les-Alpes, just 10 minutes’ drive away, has a generous selection of restaurants and grocery shops.

Local attractions
Make a day out of your trip to Les Grès d'Annot (25 minutes’ drive), for this stunning area was formed by volcanic activity that happened way, way back. Hiking trails weave past huge sandstone boulders, as well as a cave inhabited in the ancient ages and a large gully.
Chasing historic sites? Entrevaux (35 minutes) and Colmars (40 minutes) both have impressive spots – there’s a citadel at the former and a fort at the latter.
Go visit one, or two, or more of the beautiful rural villages renowned for their remarkable architectural heritage: Annot, Castellane, Colmars-les-Alpes, Cruis, Dauphin, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Riez, Seyne-les-Alpes or Simiane-la-Rotonde.
In such places, it’s very easy to stumble upon restaurants serving local treats and local markets with fresh produce. Lurs (an hour and 25 minutes), high up on a hill, the village has a smashing view over the valley made out of lavender and olive trees.
