If you’ve decided to visit the coast around Vaux-sur-Mer, you'll most likely be drawn to this western part of Poitou-Charentes' abundance of beaches and top Atlantic scenery. With so much to see and do in the surrounding area, some guests may well prefer to leave time-consuming tent prep to the pros. Enter Villatent at Camping Le Nauzan Plage, where luxurious pre-pitched safari tents could be just the job. You won't need to bring bagloads of camping equipment here, as the accommodation comes kitted out with comfy beds, a private bathroom, indoor and outdoor furniture and a well-equipped kitchen. Everything is set up for your arrival, leaving you free to get on with the important business of your holiday. Kids will be particularly keen to dive into the leisure options on offer here: two heated pools, waterslides, a paddling pool, a playground and a high-season kids' club should keep the little ones sorted. On top of that, it's a mere 500-metre stroll to the closest beach, so make a mental note to bring swimming gear and plenty of change for ice creams or crêpes. Whatever beachside snacks you go for, you'll need to take the odd pause for more substantial meals too. This is easily sorted back at base, where you can grab a bite at the bar, book in for a sit-down meal at the on-site restaurant or cook something up in the comfort of your tent.

Local attractions

The beach at Vaux-sur-Mer (10 minutes' walk) has plenty of potential to become your holiday hub. If you're in the business of more than simply lounging by the waves, there's also a watersports centre where you can take sailing lessons or hire kayaks, paddleboards and jetskis. Along the coast at Royan (10 minutes’ drive), Plage de la Grande Conche beach is another visit-worthy stretch of sand to discover. Royan marina is also the starting point for brilliant boat trips out to Fort Boyard, an off-shore Napoleonic castle. Further family-friendly times are up for grabs at Palmyre Zoo (20 minutes), where you can wander through three hectares of green grounds on the hunt for exotic creatures (the daily sea lion show is particularly popular). Luna Park (20 minutes), meanwhile, has a range of exhilarating rides to experience and old-school fairground games to try your luck at. Finally, if you're taken by the idea of roaming over an off-shore wildlife haven, get yourself to Île d'Oléron island (40 minutes) for bike rides, beaches and birdwatching.

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and trunks must be closed quietly.
