What customers say
This well-managed campsite has clean facilities and friendly staff. Guests loved the great location, a short walk to town and amenities like the train station for La Rochelle. Pitches are usually spacious and well-kept, though some felt they were tight. It's a pleasant, quiet stopover, but may be too quiet for kids off-peak. Pool size and swimwear rules were minor issues for a few.

Liked Great site with lovely welcome. Pitch was nice size for car/caravan. Facilities were great quality, always clean. Bar is great for a cold beer and a decent basic meal for your arrival night.
A five minute walk into the town, which has a good selection of restaurants.

Liked My sister and I had another lovely stay at Camping de la Gères
We were lucky enough to stop over twice this year and each time we were greeted by friendly owners and a spotlessly clean site.
Also on our last 2 nights we were treated to wonderful live music from a festival being held in the grounds of Surgères chateau, which run almost alongside on edge of the campsite.

Last minute choice for us and an excellent one.

Liked Lovely campsite. Very well run and facilities very clean. Friendly hosts. We were given a shady pitch which was a relief in the heat. Good bar and swimming pool area. We will definitely be back. Probably will bring grandchildren as it’s very family friendly. Even had WiFi which was an unexpected bonus. Thank you.

Liked We arrived after 7pm and let the owners know, and they kept the reception open for us to check us in.
Campsite is situated in a lovely French town with a couple of restaurants on the town square. Also has a train station and we took an easy train ride into La Rochelle for the day.
Clean quiet campsite with hard standing pitches and plenty of space.
Was very quiet when we stayed at end of Easter holidays so a good stopover for a couple of nights. Would have been too quiet for our 6-year old if we were staying any longer but suited our needs perfectly.
Disliked Nothing.
