It's free, quick and easy!
- Caravan on a peaceful farm 20 minutes’ drive from Beauvais
- Parc St Paul 10 minutes’ drive; Paris one hour by train from Beauvais
- Table d'hôte with homegrown produce; near a Voie Verte cycle path
A 20-minute drive from the cathedral city of Beauvais, in the northern Hauts-de-France region, Le Camping de ma Petite Ferme is a family-friendly site on a working farm that also offers a table d’hôte meal option for tasty local meals right there where you're staying – something of a dream setup for foodies on tour.
Accommodation is in a two-bedroom caravan with a retractable partition for additional privacy, plus a shower, a well-equipped kitchen and a living area. There’s also a covered outdoor terrace for alfresco dining or just relaxing with a good book.
You could choose to play pétanque on site, or soak up village life, maybe taking a leisurely stroll past ponds and fields with grazing cows. However, if you feel active, there is no shortage of activities in the local area, starting with hiking trails and the Voie Verte cycle path connecting Paris to Calais.
When you’ve built up an appetite, return to base and take advantage of that table d’hôte option, which features vegetables and fruits grown on site, eggs by the resident free-roaming hens and other products (honey, lentils, apple juice, bread, meat) from neighbouring farms.
With such a gastronomic offer, nobody could blame you for not wanting to cook your own meals. However, if you must, you can buy provisions from a supermarket in the village of Auneuil (five minutes’ drive).

Local attractions
If village life is too quiet for the kids, take them to Parc St Paul (10 minutes’ drive), where they’ll be able to get all the excitement they need on thrill rides such as a drop tower, roller coasters and a Ferris wheel. They can also navigate small boats down watery slides, bounce on the trampolines or cuddle up to the resident pygmy goats.
If those cute pygmy goats have given you a yearning for more animal life, you can head to Parc Saint Léger - Parc Animalier (10 minutes), which is home to a wide range of critters, from lemurs and raccoons to big cats like lynxes and tigers, plus farmyard animals. There is also miniature golf and a boating lake.
From Beauvais, you can catch a train and be in Paris in just over an hour. Explore world-class museums and art galleries like the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay, glide down the Seine on a sightseeing boat trip, or just pull up a chair at the Luxembourg Gardens and people-watch. And don’t forget to stop for an aperitif at a pavement café…
