Up here in the Haute-Garonne, tucked in between the Pyrénées National Park and the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Natural Park, is an excellent spot for those of you who like to fill your days with outdoor activities amid stunning scenery. Hiking, biking, rafting, climbing, canyoning, wild swimming – the options are plentiful in the area around Pyrénées Emotions, a small and secluded site surrounded by spectacular mountain views and close to the villages of Malvezie, Lourde and Ore. Not sure where to start with your adventures? No problem – the site has its own resident activity advisor in the form of Stefan, who runs the place with his wife Laetitia. He’s a qualified activity leader who runs rafting, canyoning and climbing trips in the summer months (for a minimum of four people) and is a mine of information when it comes to the best places to walk, cycle and swim nearby. It doesn’t all have to be go, go, go, though – there are plenty of more low-key ways to spend your days around here, and in between outings you’ll be able to chill out at this friendly and relaxed site, chatting to your hosts and fellow guests or simply taking time to soak up those gorgeous views. Laetitia and Stefan are on hand throughout the day to provide guests with all sorts of nice touches from freshly baked bread in the mornings to marshmallows for sociable evenings by the communal campfire. They also run a lovely little restaurant in a traditional mountain lodge, serving up continental breakfasts and three-course evening meals.

Liked Great location, the site was so lovely and peaceful. The three course dinner was such a lovely touch, the whole place had been really thought off and was so relaxing and calm feel about it, the pitches were big and private and offered a lovely shaded area. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Liked The campsite in the Pyrenees was absolutely beautiful — a perfect mix of stunning scenery and genuinely welcoming hospitality. The café/bar on site was a real highlight and had a relaxed atmosphere.

Staff were consistently friendly and helpful, always ready with advice and plenty of activities to book. The archery competition run by the lovely ladies was a huge hit with the boys and added such a fun, personal touch to the stay.

Our pitch was amazing: incredibly spacious, thoughtfully laid out, and even equipped with a picnic bench. The shower blocks were spotless throughout our stay.

We loved the trails leading directly from the campsite, making it easy to head straight into the mountains or walk down to the village. A wonderful place — we’ll definitely be back.

Liked Un lieu retraite mystique aux arbres immenses, rochers, mousses et magnifique faune. Un lieu pour marcher, écouter, toucher, respirer. Pyrénées émotions est un lieu qui est ouvert à tous et s'adapte à vos envies, famille nombreuse ou réduite, couple ou trip en solitaire...camping ou glamping :) Un acceuil agréable et à l'écoute, les hôtes ont tout pensé dans les moindres détails pour la meilleure des expérience de leur belle région; jusqu'au guide de randonnée fait maison (très bien fait) qui vous invite à l'aventure. Merci beaucoup pour ce séjour on reviens bientôt pour l'escalade!

Liked Absolutely loved this place. Hidden in the mountains, you can enjoy beautiful views and start your hikes or other adventures from here. The pitches are huge and grant enough privacy for everyone. The sanitary facilities were always clean and had nice warm water. The staff is really nice and I loved the possibility to buy a lunch bag. Will come again if we’re in the area!

Ready to get the blood pumping? There are lots of ways to get out and get active around here – perhaps taking one of the walking trails that runs from Col des Ares, scrambling up the Pic du Gar, navigating a raft down the white waters of the Garonne or swinging through the trees at Pyrénées Hô (15 minutes' drive). The swimming lake at Saint-Pé-d-Ardet (10 minutes’ drive/40 minutes’ walk) is a good place to cool off after your adventures. Time for a rest day? You can take things more slowly with wanders around nearby towns and villages, many of which have Belle Epoque architecture to look out for. The likes of Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges (20 minutes’ drive) and Bagnères-de-Luchon (half an hour) are well worth a stroll. Elsewhere nearby, you could get underground for a tour of the Gargas caves (25 minutes), visit the gorgeous fairytale-like castle at Domaine de Valmirande (half an hour) or join the experts at Pays de l’Ours - ADET (35 minutes) to learn about their bear protection project.
