It's free, quick and easy!
- Peaceful rural site 10 minutes' drive from Léran
- A 20-minute drive from watersports and activities at Lac de Montbel
- Swimming pool, paddling pool, playground, pétanque and snack bar
You may be coming to Cathar country for the castles (there are, after all, loads of ‘em), hoping to hit all the historic sites or aiming to spend your days meandering around the lakes, waterfalls and hills that grace the Ariège landscape.
Whichever of these suits your style, it’s all within easy reach of Camping Le Roc del Rey, a peaceful rural place 10 minutes’ drive from the amenities of Léran. Lovely Lac de Montbel is a 20-minute drive away for beaches and active times, and there are plenty of castles and historic towns (including Carcassonne) within an hour’s drive for the culture buffs.
In between whatever roamings you’ve selected, there’s plenty of space to relax on site, playing board games, table tennis or pétanque, dipping into the pool for a swim (or into the paddling pool for a splash if you’re one of the smaller guests) and picking up drinks and bites from the snack bar.
Life’s essentials are well catered for here, too: there’s a launderette, a washing-up area and a toilet block with accessible facilities for less mobile guests.

Local attractions
If you’ve come here hoping for alfresco activities, make a beeline for Lac de Montbel, a 1,500-acre reservoir with a 16-kilometre hiking path around its perimeter and facilities for horse riding, sailing and canoeing. A couple of beaches and several cafés await those who prefer the idea of alfresco inactivity.
Should you wish to hike further, the Ariégeoises Pyrenees Regional Natural Park is a 45-minute drive away, and there are more leisurely rambles to be had along the banks of the Touyre river just by the site or around the Roquefort waterfalls, half an hour away by car.
Those with a penchant for a historic visit or few will do well around these parts: the châteaux of Montségur, Puivert, Lagarde and Arques are all within an hour’s drive, as are the UNESCO-listed fortified city of Carcassonne and medieval Mirepoix.
