If you’re vexing yourself over whether to have a sojourn in Spain or a fortnight in France this year, voyage to both with a trip to Camping La Coscolleda in the Pyréneés-Orientales, a 25-minute drive from the border between these two cracking countries. This site’s on the outskirts of the quiet town of Sorède, a 10-minute walk from the amenities in the centre – including boulangeries and a tourist info office – and at the foot of the Albères Massif. It’s also an easy 15-minute drive to the buff beaches of Argelès-sur-Mer on France’s Mediterranean coast. Splash in the sea over there or swim back on site – the park has a pool for all your dipping needs and a section of the Tassio river is on the grounds for cooling your feet and watching the local wildlife. Rest up riverside at this peaceful place or find shade under the leafy trees on the terrace beside the pool's snack bar – if you’re feeling active the site’s also connected to a greenway leading to the Pyrenees for hikes. The site also has a play area, wifi and laundry facilities, and there are foodie supplies at the shops and supermarket around a 10-minute walk away.

Liked Small family run site with campervan pitches, caravans, bungalows very nice
The welcome was great the gentleman was very helpful
The showers were mixed but good condition clean
The food was good too from homemade dishes to pizza
The pool was nice but we didn't have time to use it

Liked La gentillesse de l'accueil . Honnêteté de la gérante suite à pb électrique sur bloc d'alimentation de ma glacière, remboursement des jours sur l’électricité sur la fin de séjour et proposition de mettre mes blocs de glace dans congélateur à dispo des campeurs .Très belle piscine. Camping familiale très calme idéal pour se ressourcer .Pb de wifi sur l'emplacement initial ,pas de Pb pour changer d'emplacement et retrouver un wifi gratuit acceptable .
Je recommande ce lieu .

Disliked Le système par appuis pour laver la vaisselle 2l environ consommé à chaque appuis . Beaucoup trop par exemple pour une simple tasse . Un système à commande à pied pour le camping économiserait un volume d'eau non négligeable .

Liked Small friendly campsite, it was quiet, with a lot of shade and a bench on our pitch. Everything was clean and well kept. The swimming pool was clean with a lot of sunloungers and plenty of sunshades too. There looked like there was a great restaurant, but we didn't eat there. Both Fanny and her husband were helpful and friendly. Great location too.

Disliked nothing really, but maybe more lighting would be good to improve the visability and security, although lot of people had their own

Liked Tranquilidad del camping y ambiente familiar y relajado.
Parcelas muy agradables, íntimas y con buena separación entre ellas, situadas cerca del río.
Muy buena limpieza de los baños principales.
Amabilidad de los propietarios y del personal del bar.
Piscina y zona del bar muy agradables y tranquilas, ideales para relajarse.
Wifi con buena cobertura y conexión rápida.
Servicio de desayuno muy práctico: se pueden encargar productos para el desayuno y te los llevan directamente a la parcela a primera hora de la mañana.

Disliked Para acceder a la piscina había que pasar por una ducha donde se acumulaba un pequeño charco de agua estancada en los pies, algo poco agradable.
El terreno estaba bastante duro para clavar las piquetas, aunque probablemente se debía a la sequedad y a la falta de lluvia de la zona.

l'eau qui est à l'entrée de la piscine est un pédiluve obligatoire ce qui permet une désinfection... nous essayerons de changer l'eau plus souvent afin que se soit renouvelé.

Local attractions

Sandwiched between the mountains and the coast, this site’s ace for adventuring. Head to Argelès-sur-Mer (15 minutes’ drive) for seaside saunters – it has a promenade facing the water and a long beach to potter along – before investigating the sights of the old town. Make a foray to the 14th-century Notre-Dame del Prat Church for stonking views from its bell tower, then voyage to Valmy Park, just outside town (15 minutes) to trace the trails towards a 19th-century castle. After that, swoop back to the seaside to the town of Collioure for yet more epic views from the medieval Château Royal de Collioure, which looks out over the coast. Weave a smidgen of culture into your break by stopping by the Modern Art Museum to nosey at Matisse paintings and head to the hilltop Fort St Elme for its displays of medieval weapons, too. Away from the water, a trip to The Turtle Valley (10 minutes) will introduce you to more than 500 turtles and tortoises hailing from five continents, along with a range of reptiles and small mammals.
