It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site a short walk from the beach in Valras-Plage
- Half an hour's drive from Béziers and an hour from Carcassonne
- Lots of facilities including waterpark, pony club and sports pitches
What a lot there is to do at Sandaya Camping Blue Bayou. Best start speaking very nicely to the boss, as it’s likely you’ll want to grab as many days off as poss to make the most of all the activities at this fably family-friendly site a short trot from the beach in the little resort of Valras-Plage.
For starters, it’d be easy to while away many an hour at the waterpark, splashing about between the two main pools, the paddling pool, the water play area and the waterslides, wallowing in the hot tub or maybe joining in with an aqua gym class. And on dry land there’s plenty of scope to nurture your competitive streak with games of pétanque, miniature golf, tennis or volleyball.
All sounding a bit much? No worries – there’s space to chill out too, perhaps having packed les enfants off to hang out with like-minded souls at the kids’ club (divided into three sections to ensure age-appropriate company and activities). Other small folk-friendly spaces around the site include a well-equipped playground, a games room and a pony club.
If you’ve truly worn the tiddlers (and yourselves) out, look out for the little road train that trundles around the site so you can grab a lift back to your patch, or off to the bar-restaurant for drinks and sustenance with a sea view.

Local attractions
On top of all the antics to be found on site, it’s likely you’ll want to make time to get out and about into the resort and beyond. The best place to start is down at the beach – a four-kilometre stretch of the sandy stuff is just a few minutes’ stroll from the site, with watersports kit available to rent and ice creams and fresh seafood to buy from the stalls.
For a break from the sun (or the rain perhaps), take a look at the town’s toy museum with its fab displays of Lego art and tables full of the stuff for kids (and big kids) to play with. Also nearby for the nippers are the treetop trails of La Yole adventure park (10 minutes’ drive) and the rides and rollercoasters of Europark, Europe’s largest fixed fairground (20 minutes away).
Away from the coast, it’s worth making day trips to the cities of Béziers (half an hour’s drive) and Carcassonne (an hour away).
