  • Family site set alongside a 17-hectare lake, 14km from Troyes town
  • A 45-minute drive from Nigloland theme park and watersports lakes
  • Watersports, tennis courts, miniature golf course and restaurant
You’ll take to this place like a fish to water… Right next to a lake with watersports galore, this Clérey site also has a beach, a huge outdoor playground, giant inflatable toys for fun on land and lake, plus a miniature golf course; it's also a top stopover spot for those venturing south. The 25-hectare site Les Terres Rouges has been welcoming guests since 1980, when it was designed with lake-based activity very much in mind: guests can swim or use waterskis and sailboats, canoes/ kayaks, banana boats and other such seaworthy vessels. The lake is lifeguarded, and life jackets are provided free of charge if you leave your ID. Inflatable castles and blow-up slides – on both land and lake – are on hand to keep everyone from teeny kids to teens bouncy and buoyant, in addition to sports facilities such as tennis courts, ping pong tables, a big outdoor playground and a miniature golf course. During July and August, the park’s restaurant is open for morning coffees and croissants, serving local specialities (such as andouillette de Troyes sausage) right through to lunch and dinner. If you’d rather not have to get up and dressed and out for your morning meal, bread can be ordered before 6pm and delivered the next day. Off site, a big supermarket (and its petrol station) lies a short and speedy drive away.

Local attractions

Les Terres Rouges is 25 minutes’ drive from Troyes on the road towards the famed vineyards of the corking Champagne region; in a car, you can reach the edge of the 70,000-hectare Orient Forest Regional Natural Park in about 15 minutes, and if you venture on a little further you’ll come to three vast artificial lakes. Of those lakes, D'Orient, which has several beaches and serves as the area’s principal bird reserve, is primed for sailing, while Temple is the go-to for anglers, and Amance the place to head to for speedboat-based adventures such as waterskiing and wakeboarding. The cracking theme park of Nigloland is an easy 45 minutes' drive away too; here, kids (and grownups) can try out 37 rides spread around its four zones, namely the Canadian village, the Swiss village, the rock 'n' roll village and the magical village, one of which is home to France’s highest drop tower, which stands at a staggeringly lofty 100 metres.
