It's free, quick and easy!
- Small, peaceful site with bell tents in the Indre countryside
- A 15-minute drive from La Châtre and half an hour from Lac d'Éguzon
- Fully-furnished with a barbecue, firepit and gas cooker; communal pool
Craving a hideaway surrounded by the scenic countryside with watersports, wildlife spotting and buzzy towns a short drive away? Well, La Roseraie has a crafty concoction of smart glamping tents and some of the much-loved ingredients for a traditional camping stay (such as barbecues and firepits), and it's all 15 minutes’ drive away from La Châtre and half an hour from Lac d'Éguzon.
Here the bell tents are kitted out with comfy beds, storage for clothing and personal items and kitchen facilities with cookware, crockery, a kettle and a gas cooker provided. As for outside, the private space has a barbecue, firepit and woodburning stove (with wood provided) in a wildlife-rich field.
Aside from your own patch of land, you’ll be able to exchange cooking tips in the shared kitchen, which is kept under shelter. Ready for more recharging, the outdoor pool is another hot communal spot where guests can gather. Then, on a more practical note, there are clean and easily accessible bathroom facilities too.
Rural-style exploration may become second nature from here, as the site is well placed for countryside walks. Tucked away in a peaceful plot, it’s still close enough to the main roads to get further out, whether that’s to lakes, parks or historical sites. Plus, the site is just 25 minutes’ walk away from Fougerolles, a quiet little place with a friendly traditional restaurant (more restaurants and local shops are a short drive away).

Local attractions
A lazy lake day may be on the cards from here – and you’ll have a couple of options to weigh up. The first is the pretty Lac d'Éguzon (half an hour’s drive), where well-kept beaches are ripe swimming and picnicking grounds and the waters… well, they’re watersports central with everything from kayaking and paddleboarding to waterskiing.
There are nature trails and waterfront cafés on the shore – and there's similar at Le Bourg-d'Hem (35 minutes), a particularly peaceful natural lake connected to the Creuse river with a playground, beach, swimming and paddleboarding activities and a restaurant or picnic areas.
Now, how about the town? La Châtre (15 minutes) is a buzzy place with historic sites, footpaths, galleries, shops, a cinema, swimming pool and a market on Saturday. It’s well-connected by road to other parts of Indre, meaning you can easily take off towards Parc des Parelles (20 minutes), a nature reserve, or Brenne Natural Regional Park (an hour) for more wildlife spotting and watersports.
For a rockier ramble, Les Pierres Jaumâtres and Toulx-Sainte-Croix (55 minutes) may be your next port of call. Here, the rocky hill formations have a woodland walk, a restaurant and café, children’s activities and the Tour d’observation with views all the way to Puy-de-Dôme.
