  • Beachfront site five minutes' drive from Nevez in Brittany
  • A 15-minute drive to Pont-Aven and 25 minutes to Glenan Islands boats
  • Pools, sauna, bar-restaurant; GR 34 route and private road to beach
Interested in white sand beaches, blue seas, deserted islands, the land of Paul Gaugin? No need to cross the Pacific for it. Brittany's Finistère region is a wild and windswept area of beaches and coves, harbours and cliffs looking out to clusters of islands off the Atlantic coast: much recommended… If you're a sensible sort who returns to Brittany year after year, be more sensible still and sort a stay at Camping Le Raguenes Plage, for a friendly welcome and a supremely comfortable setting a 10-minute stroll from the beach. Don’t hit the beach just yet though, as there’s a pair of pools on site to swim, float, slide and splash in, and other plentiful facilities including a games room, with table tennis, table football and a boules court. If you can spare the time, the team lays on daily activities and entertainments in the summer months. For more restful times, steam away your cares in the sauna or sip a glass of something in the sunshine at the bar.

What customers say

This campsite offers a beautiful spot with beach access and a popular pool complex with slides, great for families. Pitches are typically well-sized, set among trees. Guests often praise clean facilities and friendly staff, but some report noise issues (especially from the pool) and dated facilities in some areas. Wi-Fi can be expensive and unreliable. Dogs are banned from the beach in summer.

Liked Nice tree covered pitches for shade. Pool and slides were great with a nice heated pool too. The bar was nice and their pizzas were delicious.
Stunning beach was only a 5min walk away.
Facilities were modern and toilet/showers cleaned regularly.

Disliked No phone signal at all (I needed it to make booking arrangements for the rest of the trip)
Wifi was €10 for 20hrs
We were located near the pool area which was quite noisy at night (especially during the pool party which went on passed 11pm)

Liked Great campsite. We stayed for 7 nights with 3 kids (7, 9 & 10), the pool is lovely, the kids loved the slides. Our son spent a lot of time playing football on the 5 a side court with loads of other kids from all over Europe. All 3 kids loved the trampolines, the play area and the ping pong tables. Our pitch was tucked away but still only a few minutes walk from everything. The toilets & showers were clean. The beach is a short walk, bring a trolley or two if you carry as much stuff as us haha. The beach is great, safe sandy shore in parts and rocky one end for snorkeling.

Disliked The only aspect to improve on I'd say is the kids club, there didn't seem much appetite to include all kids (almost exclusively French) not really advertised/promoted, kids not really encouraged to join in and as ours don't speak fluent French they didn't feel able to get involved.

Liked The location, near a beach and village centre with supermarket. The pitch was a good size and had everything you needed. Shaded pitch so it wasn't too hot in the morning or night. Nice fresh bread and croissants delivered onsite in the morning. The weather was a nice change from England. Some lovely unspoilt little villages. Good activities for the kids

Disliked Noisy site early in a morning from birds and the waves. Not the sites fault but just thought I'd add that for the fussy people.

Liked Swimming pool, close to beach, plots were large, 2 play areas for kids and very green, shop was well stocked with the essentials, very friendly site and more than enough on site to last a week in a tent.

Disliked Restaurant was quite limited for times and food choice.
Washing facilities could have been better (lots of sinks in cubicles, dish washing facilities I could never get the water to warm up and showers had no hangars for clothes and towels)

Liked We have enjoyed our stay at le Raguenes Plage for 20yrs or more.
It is a wonderful place full of natural beauty, with access to Tahiti beach through a field with stunning views.
Facilities are very clean the staff are very friendly in all areas. The shop staff are so lovely helpful and polite.
The shower and toilet areas are kept clean, cleaners are always in attendance and very thorough. Our grandchildren experiance so much more freedom within the campsite facilities for the children are so much better now but always room for improvement.
We all had an amazing holiday and are thinking of booking for next year now. Very happy campers that didn't want to leave.

Disliked Nothing to dislike at all.

Liked Good location between Pont Aven and Concarneau (both about 25 mins drive) and Nevez (about 5 mins). It has direct access to the coast path (nice walks in both directions) and a beach through a gate with code access for security. There is a big field just outside the gate for dog walking (they aren’t allowed on the beach in summer but people were taking them on in the evenings).
The pitches are good size and have plenty of tree shade. There are 2 facilities blocks, though the oldest doesn’t have inside toilets (there was an accessible one open in the women’s block for the first couple of days we were there but then it was closed). The showers and toilets outside are gender neutral which we liked.
The pool area is great, with different pools plus slides. The snack bar does very good chips and decent pizzas. The shop is well stocked and you don’t have to order bread/croissants the night before.

Disliked WiFi was patchy and kept dropping out which was frustrating as we paid for it.

Local attractions

It’s 10 minutes' walk down a private and car-free road to the beach for swimming, fishing and watersports. If you’re conserving your energy, take the shuttle bus to the surf school from the site. For shops, eats, supplies and gentle wanderings, Nevez is a five-minute drive away. If you’ve got an urge to wander further, the GR 34 route (known as the Customs Officers’ Path) passes right by the site as part of a an 1,800-kilometre network of hiking trails along the Brittany coast. Should you prefer to stick to pavements, try arty Pont-Aven (15 minutes' drive) – former home of Gaugin and his followers and now to an excellent museum and gallery – and Concarneau (25 minutes), an old walled town with very snappable harbour and beach. Doable in a day (and you’ll kick yourself if you don’t), the stones of Carnac are an hour and 15 minutes away, near a burial mound and museum showing how humans have valued this part of the world for millennia. You’ll value this landscape too after a trip to the Glenan islands, an archipelago justifiably compared to Tahiti for its lagoons and wildflowers. Divers and sailors flock to the islands for the breezes and the clear seas, and hikers, strollers and picnickers are just as well provided for on the dunes and long beaches. Boats leave Concarneau and Bénodet (25 and 50 minutes) for the Glénan islands, or you could head an hour and a half away to Quiberon for sailings to bigger, busier Belle-Île.
