Come and be a Costarmoricain for a spell by camping in colourful Côtes-d'Armor… The Bretagne department where the inhabitants are called Costarmoricains has quite the vivid-hued environment all around, including both  the Cote d'Emeraude/Emerald Coast and the Côte de Granit-Rose/Pink Granite Coast along its shoreline (we like the latter so much we included it in our Ten things to see and do in Bretagne blog).

The pink stonework of the esteemed port of Erquy is another bright idea for a day out from a Côtes-d'Armor campsite, with seven sandy beaches and a network of signposted coastal paths along the Cap d'Erquy. Stop off here for scallops (oui, there’s a scallop festival too), and then cross the coast for a day on the viewsome limestone cliffs and bird reserve of Cap Frehel, packed with seabirds. Another flashy option in Côtes-d'Armor? Make for the three kilometre-long ramparts of medieval town Dinan, with its old quay, art galleries, 40 metre-high aqueduct and the ‘thirsty street’ of Rue de la Cordonnerie with nine colourful pubs.
