No less than four sandy beaches covering kilometres’ worth of coast are at Gironde’s Les Sables d'Argent’s seaside resort of Soulac-sur-Mer – and the site has direct access to one long sandy stretch. (Have a look at the pics to see how the holiday homes face the sea only steps away.)
The sea here is a first-rate surfing spot too, or you could hire a bike from the Les Sables d'Argent team and pedal along the 100 or so kilometres of cycle trails leading straight from the site. Royan is 12 kilometres away and the wine tours and wine tasting of Bordeaux within about 68.
Les Sables d'Argent is well set up for days on site, with a heated pool and a paddling pool surrounded by a solarium with deckchairs; a snack bar open every day in July and August serving eat-in meals and takeaways; communal barbecues; a grocery shop; two ping pong tables and two pétanque courts for guests' free use.
July and August see a range of activities organised by the entertainment team – theme nights, dancing, lotto nights and concerts are all on offer – along with tournaments including pétanque, ping pong, beach volley and football: do see if you can bag a prize. A kids’ club runs from 9am to noon every Monday to Friday in these months too, dishing up activities, sports and a show every Friday evening.

Local attractions
After exploring the four beaches of Soulac, have a wander in town to see its nineteenth century villas and to have a bite to eat, a sup or a nightclub evening in the bars, clubs and restaurants lining its main street Rue de la Plage.
Over 100km of low-altitude bike trails are accessible straight from Les Sables d'Argent, through forest and along rivers, past vineyards and through peaceful French countryside… A detailed cycling map is available in the campsite reception.
The Sables d’Argent team also reckons that Montalivet Adventure Park is a must for families having a holiday here; more grownuply, also a firm must is a full investigation of world famed Bordeaux wines in the wine trails and wineries around the site.
